A case Study OF Mr. Hakim Ali
Mr. Hakim age about 40 years old of Village Dur Mohammad Chachar U/C
Ranwati, Taluka Obaro, District Ghotki , a poor farmer and sometimes having
driving of vehicle “Tractor Trolly” for Sugarcane etc. He Have 4 Children (3 sons
& 1 baby Girl and all have less than 15 years.)
Before rain flood of 2012 he was residing in very cheap and simple style of
shelter , which was made of double pitch roof but in very poor condition with
Straw and mud.
During this rain flood 2012, he and his family became homeless and his house
has been destructed because of no any bearing capacity load of that type of poor
shelter with poor roof Installation work and etc.
After flood ,when he come back at his home that still he was not able to
construct the good stable home, because hardly he manages the food for his
family.
He is very poor and having no any source of income Like: Agriculture, livestock
etc. His source of income is wage labor.
When our Community Research Development Organization (CRDO) team
look and meet with him in this said village then priority given to this household for
the One Room shelter (ORS) with fully advice of village committee (VC).
We hope that may be our (CRDO – IOM) shelter will be very helpful for his
family.
He is really Very Hardworking and true spirit man because whenever we
introduced our shelter program in which soil testing , Trial Mixes and different
Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) techniques will be used with lime and lime
stabilized soil for the long life of shelter. Then he was showing & taking too much
interest for making this Shelter and also he taken too much participation for
making of Trial Mixes , wall Render & Plaster and Floor/Roof screed for using
different ratios, which was told from the Consultancy of “STRAWBUILD”. And
also he did follow and attended all Technical Trainings from CRDO-IOM field
Staff Team for making of that type of shelter. And also IOM-CRDO support and
help to Each beneficiaries in the shape of cash total PKR : 30000/= in 3
tranches for their making plinth, wall & roof with lime stabilized shelter.
And now finally he is moved to Constructed the DRR CRDO-IOM shelter with
consultancy of “Strawbuild” techniques for using the lime and lime stabilized
soil for the long life of shelter.
