Some assignments are graded, some are not. Work that is not graded will have a or a check mark.

Report Cards and Progress Reports

Report cards and Kindergarten checklist - are issued every 9 weeks

Mandatory 6 grades taken per semester, per subject

Kindergarten check list - included in the report card. It will give a better understanding of their academic skills.

Kindergarten does not issue progress reports.

Language Arts Handwriting: Manuscript Weekly letter focus: Two letters per week Sight words: Word banks and word wall. Vocabulary: Academic vocabulary book Rhyming Counting syllables Concepts of print: words / letters, punctuation,

capital and lower case, top to bottom, left to right, where to begin reading.

Writing Inventive spelling is used. (Ex:

rainbow =rnbo) Writing on the sounds heard in the

words. In the beginning, typically the first and last sounds heard.

It’s going to look a little messy at first.

Testing Our goal is for your child to be READING

Attendance Each day your child is here on time, they get

a sticker for their chart. Send notes for EVERY absence 15 or more unexcused absences can result

in retention Tardies will bring conduct down Early pick-up – must get office to sign out For transportation changes - give notice to

Transportation Please send a written note

Your child must have a written note to go home a different way.

General Rules Clothing must be in dress code.

Girls – no spaghetti straps Please have girls wear shorts under their

Help at Home Read to your child and have your child

Check backpacks every day and be sure to empty folders from the previous day

Snack Please send a snack each day. Re-sealable baggies can be sent back

home. Things that do not seal must be thrown

away if your child does not finish. Please do not send drinks. Food sharing is not allowed.

Homework 1 page each night: letter practice over

letters taught the previous week No more than 4 pages a week Homework folders are red and should be

returned on Friday. Homework will be sent home Monday.

Homework Grading All 4 pages completed on FRIDAY: E 3 pages complete: S 2 Pages complete: N No pages complete: U If all pages are complete, but work is

turned in late, it is still a U.

Tuesday Folders Please remove

everything from the yellow Tuesday folder and return any school forms.

Sign the bottom of the paper stapled in the folder and return Wednesday.

STAR Student Every child will be the star student one week!

We will start in October in alpha order. Star student poster – Monday Star student show and tell - Wednesday Star student parent reading at 10:35 - Friday Treasure chest - Friday

Benfer Spirit Day Every FRIDAY is spirit day! School shirts may be purchased in the school

store.
