ASSIGNMENT #1: JOIN SCHOOLOGY (Code: KZ75‐8PDV‐QSD3B) Throughout the year, assignments and announcements related to our class will be posted on Schoology.com. Visit this page frequently during the school year to keep up with the topics we are covering in the classroom. If you have any questions pertaining to assignments at any time, feel free to message me on Schoology at any time. (My responses are usually very short and to the point so please do not take offense to it.) Also, download the app on your phone to receive notifications. Take the time over the summer to familiarize yourself with Schoology and how it works. I will begin posting the week before school starts. (Use a password that can be remembered as well as real names for your username—no nicknames please!) ASSIGNMENT #2: BUY AMSCO/ Read Chapter 1-2 and Complete AMSCO Worksheet #1 & 2 I urge you to purchase your own copy of AMSCO’s United States History Preparing for the Advanced Placement Examination 2015 (or later version), a book that we will use extensively over the course of the year, as soon as possible. It is required for this course. You can order it from www.amscopub.com for $18.95 or can be found for purchase on Amazon and eBay. Also, I have a downloadable version on Schoology that can be used for the summer assignment. Students from last year may also be willing to give/ sell you their copy so please feel free to ask them.

ASSIGNMENT #3: UNITED STATES GEOGRAPHY Using the US map provided in this packet, label and color per the following directions. Familiarize yourself with the name and location of all fifty states. They will serve as resources for you over the course of the school year. Use colored pencils to color each state. There will be a U.S. Geography test during the first week of school. On your test, you will be given a blank political map of the United States. You will need to fill in the 50 states, without a word bank, spelled correctly. You will need to identify where Washington, DC is. DIRECTIONS: Use an atlas or online resource to complete the map by using following information:

A. Label all 50 states AND Washington D.C. Please print in black ink. DO NOT ABBREVIATE! B. Color each state a different color from those bordering it. C. Label Mexico and Canada (Color Brown) D. Label the following with a black pen (Color Light Blue) a. Bodies of Water: Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi River, Hudson River

ASSIGNMENT #4: PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES Knowledge of the Presidents of the United States is EXTREMELY important for this class and knowing them from the start will assist you greatly. Complete the attached handout using the PowerPoint posted on Schoology.com. Follow the directions on the handout. Do not abbreviate names or political parties. ASSIGNMENT #4: AMENDMENTS OF THE CONSTITUTION There are 27 Amendments to the US Constitution. You will identify those that are pertinent to this course. Please research the year each one was added to the Constitution and summarize each completely in bullet format.  ASSIGNMENT #6: AP CONTRACT Read, fill out information, sign and return the attached contract.

3. Fold your Construction Paper like a “hot dog”

4. Now separate your Northern Colonies/Middle Colonies and Southern Colonies out by cutting

them into three separate groups.

5. Paste and label Northern Colonies on the Front top flap and repeat.

6. On the inside of the flap, write out the names of the colonies on the left-hand side and write

characteristics on the right. They can include settlement/politics/ religion/ society and

economy.
