Ms. Soeder January 22-25 Language Arts -This week we will be reading a fairy tale called “Lon Po Po” which is similar to an American fairy tale called “Little Red Riding Hood.” We will work to compare and contrast the two stores. -Students will learn the meanings of the following words: tender, delighted, brittle, embraced, cunning, disguised, charming, racket, ingenious, outwit. -We will begin to study adjectives. We will use them in quality writing. Adjectives are words that describe a noun. -Our writing focus for this week is a character sketch using awesome adjectives. Your hard work and studying paid off. Way to go on last week’s Storytown Test! I’m SO proud. -Kayden deserves a long overdue shout out. I am so proud of his work in class and AMAZING behavior. You rock! Social Studies Last week students created blue prints for their 3-D maps in small groups that were chosen by a task force. This week we will be making those maps come to life! I can’t wait to share pictures on the website. Everyday Math Lesson 5.12-Test This week we will be focusing on the following concepts: -identifying lines, line segments, and rays. -drawing lines, line segments, and rays. -identifying and demonstrating clockwise and counterclockwise rotations. -Quarter turns, half turns, three Spelling words: coarse, warm, soar, wore, swarm, form, story, warn, bore, sport, glory, force, course, before, fourth. Challenge words: explorer, forest, scoreboard, fourteen, seashore.
