Academic Atmosphere

• We enter an academic classroom expecting to work the entire period.

• We are not here to play around.

Page 3: Ms. Wulchak’s House Rules Stay focused on the goal

Proper Decorum• Enter class with a normally acceptable level of

volume, not an outside voice:

• No “horseplay.” It leads to fights and suspensions.

• Sit in the assigned seat.

• Sit facing front, especially during tests.

Page 4: Ms. Wulchak’s House Rules Stay focused on the goal

Being On Task• Don’t talk during instruction. That

distracts others from hearing the information. There will be times you may talk between activities.

• If you finish an assignment early, read a book, do other class work, read the newspaper online, apply for scholarships, no computer games, no cards in class, no texting.

Page 5: Ms. Wulchak’s House Rules Stay focused on the goal

NO Electronic Devices• Electronic devices must not be in view. They will be

confiscated. You may pick them up after school at Mrs. Pelletier’s desk in the Dean’s office.

• Don’t text. Don’t sneak by having hands in purses or book bags. Clear the desktop for your work space.

• Having devices out during tests constitutes cheating. The test will become a grade of zero and the phone will go to the Dean’s office.

• A dean will escort offenders out if they do not wish to hand a phone over and comply with rules.

Food and Drink• Do Not Eat breakfast or lunch in class. Do

not open bags of snacks to munch.• Set bagged food items off of your desk, so

you can read and write.• Drinks should be placed in book bags with

secure, screw top lids. Wet desktops annoy the next students.

• Constantly bringing food to class will mean you are ignoring rules on purpose and do not care about a 2 in conduct.

ATTITUDE—”Be Nice.”• What you put out into the world is what

you’ll get back. Pleasant people enjoy their days, while complainers and back talkers make life tough on themselves. It’s Karma.

• Students who disrupt the educational process verbally or non-verbally will take their referrals to the Dean’s office. Defiance can be seen and heard in body language, facial expression, and tone of voice.

Going to the Restroom• Raise your hand for

permission.

• Sign out on the clipboard. Take the pass. One person can be out at a time.

• Be back quickly. Others may need to go, too.

• You may take trash to restroom trash cans. Do not encourage ants and roaches.

Participate Appropriately• Stay awake. Remove hoods. Unplug.• Bring your vocab. words everyday.

• If we’re reading a novel, bring your assigned novel everyday.

• Borrow pencils from the wooden box on my desk.

• Cheating on a test means a zero on the test and a phone call to parents.

Note--Sleeping /defiant attitudes/not participating can result in a 2 in conduct which means-- no honor roll.

Change of Seat• You may be asked to change to another seat.

Please do this without complaint.

• It might have nothing to do with you personally. It could mean someone was trying to cheat off your paper.

• You might be too sociable with a friend, and the talking disrupts the lesson.

Page 11: Ms. Wulchak’s House Rules Stay focused on the goal

Computers• Ask permission to use computers and

to print. Ask before printing, "Is it ok to print? The printer might be jammed. It might be out of paper or ink.

• You may use my computers to print your essays. You may use them at lunch and after school, as well.

• Don’t change backgrounds.• Do Not Play computer games.

More about Materials

• Loose leaf paper is available at the front table to the left.

• The pencil sharpener is also on the front table.

• Use any kind of paper you want for writing and practices. Pencil is fine. Pens need legible ink, not pale pink pastel or glittery gold. Also, no red if it’s an essay I have to read.

Making up Missed TESTS• If you are absent for a Vocab. test, you will be

on my Thurs. or Fri. Lab list. If you miss Lab, we will discuss what day works for us both.

• I have Academic Team practices during lunch, Mon.& Tue. So, Wed., Thur.,& Fri. you can come at lunch. Sometimes you can make up tests after school, but not on days with Faculty meetings or Parent Conferences. We’ll arrange a time.

More about Make ups

• It is best to be here on the regularly scheduled Fri. test day.

• In certain circumstances, (district play-off

games, field trips, excused absences when you know ahead), you may be allowed to take a test early, so you don’t have to come to a Lab.
