PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
The course is delivered by Robert Gordon
University in partnership with Global College
Malta.
Students will be taught by lecturers from
Robert Gordon University at the premises of
Global College Malta located in SmartCity
Malta. The blended model of tuition is basedon a combination of on-campus lectures
delivered by RGU staff at GCM and distance
learning.
The course has been developed and
is supported by experienced industry
professionals, with reference to authentic
industry application software, current
technical standards, leading-edge
engineering practices and is fully accredited
by the Energy Institute (EI).
This course will allow you to develop
the skills and knowledge necessary to
select equipment, optimise the design
and performance of production facilities
and manage field and well production
operations. You will also cover wells and
related production facilities, whether on
land, offshore or subsea. In addition to
the more technical aspects of the course
you will also gain valuable management
skills for working in a multidisciplinary
team on complex projects such as fielddevelopments, field enhancement projects
and well rehabilitations.
HOW YOU WILL LEARN
Those studying on this blended model
course will be taught via a combination
of guest speakers, tutorials, discussion
and online tutorial via our virtual learning
environment.
BENEFITS FOR YOUR ORGANISATION
Those studying on this course will be able to
bring new and cross-networked knowledge
to the organisation, developing processes
and procedures which add real value to the
workplace. Employees will be able to take the
theory and immediately put it into practice
demonstrating the relevance of the material
being taught.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Previous graduates generally work as fully
qualified petroleum engineers and managers in
the upstream oil and gas industry, specialising
in the production discipline.
YOU WILL LEARN TO:
Develop a critical awareness of current
industry challenges and available
techniques for addressing these
Deal with complex issues and incomplete
data, both systematically and creatively
Demonstrate self-direction and originality
in tackling and solving problems
Show initiative, personal responsibili ty and
decision-making skills
Provide clear communication of project
conclusions to both specialist and non-
specialist audiences
The blended model course uses the same
material and content as the full-time on-
campus course and is delivered by the same
subject specialists, to the same learning
outcomes.
Individual Project
In order to complete the full MSc you will
submit an individual engineering researchproject with an industry focus. This is
designed to allow you to demonstrate
the skills and knowledge gained through
the course along with integrating and
implementing research methods, whilst being
of practical relevance.
BENEFITS TO YOU
This course is fully accredited by the Energy
Institute (EI) which ensures the course
content is to the highest industry standards
providing you with key recognition. Thiscourse will also count towards the academic
requirements of the EI allowing you to work
towards your chartered status.
The course will facilitate your progression to
a career as an engineer or manager, providing
you with the tools and techniques required

This course gave me an in-
depth understanding of an
area I previously had very
little experience of. The
earlier modules provided a
good grounding in the well
life cycle and production
facilities. I particularly
enjoyed the more specialised
modules later in the course
and the MSc Project whichprovided the opportunity to be
tutored by experts who are
actively engaged in the
upstream oil and gas sector.
