110th LOGO MAKING CONTEST
Rules and Guidelines:
1. The Logo Making Contest is open to all Paulinians enrolled. One (1) entry per person.
2. The designs must coincide with the theme: SPUD @ 110: ABLAZE AND ALIVE IN GOD’S LIGHT.
3. The design must be original and shouldn’t be copied or modified from any source.
4. Entry should be drawn or printed on a one whole sheet size bond paper (8.5*11).
5. It must be given to the CAED Office on or before August 15, 2014.
6. Failure to abide with these rules and regulations shall mean disqualification.
7. The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.
8. Announcement of winners will be on August 18, 2014.

1. The Committee will be responsible for all sponsorship communications. The Office of the
External Affairs will draft the letter to sponsors reflecting the amount as and offered mileages as
agreed during the first meeting, to wit;

2. All communications must be signed by the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee and
Noted by the Over-all Chair.
3. Control Numbers should be assigned to avoid duplication and for purposes of tracing.
4. All payment transactions must be made at the Business Finance Office and Official Receipts
should likewise be issued.
5. List of possible sponsors should be submitted to the Committee for checking as the university
has already a list of pre-identified sponsors and donors. The deadline for the submission of the
list of possible sponsors will be on August 15, 2014.
6. An arrangement of 70% (University) and 30% (Department) will be applied subject to the
approval of the Over-All Chair. The 30% sharing will be used to subsidize the expenses incurred
in activities such as the Floats, Booth and Parade.
7. There should only be 1 TICKET with ALL EVENTS ACCESS that will be issued to the student. The
amount that will be collected will be PHP 100.00 and will automatically be added to student’s
individual statement of accounts or charged to the departmental fund. Selling of other tickets to
students is discouraged. For outsiders, a separate rate and ticket will be assigned per night
event.
8. The Office of the External Affairs will identify and invite companies for the FUN RIDES. An
arrangement of 60/40 sharing will be applied. Companies must enter into a Memorandum of
Agreement or contract with the university.
9. For booth rentals, interested companies should secure PERMIT before the Finance Office. All
departmental booths are discouraged from selling in whatever forms.
10. A deadline will be on September 25, 2014 for all confirmed sponsorships to allow time for
Printing and Production of Ad Materials. Confirmed sponsorships means a payment has already

Booth Making:
Booth sizes will be 5 meters x 5 meters.
The unit booth designated areas will be in draw lot system with the exception of the booth for
the admin.
Booth design/sketches/drawings should be submitted a month before the installation of the
booths.
No booth may extend into the isle or exceed the booth dimension or height restriction.
Fire extinguishers should be available within the booth vicinity.
Electrical outlets must be properly secured to prevent from stepping and being wet.
Electrical equipment must be installed, operated and maintained in a manner that does not
create hazard to life and property.
All sound systems should be regulated and must be totally put off during programs held at the
ball field.
The unit should provide their own TV sets for their promotional videos.
No balloons are allowed in the booth vicinity.
The booth units are: HS, GS, CAED, CON, Business, Accountancy/IT, Tourism/HRM, Calo farm,
Staff and Maintenance, SAO, ROTC/Security, CFO and sponsoring agencies like globe or smart
Concessionaire should be at the back of the gymnasium

110th University Show Room
Objectives:1. To promote the potentials of the different departments by highlighting their activities, awards
and other academic and non-academic involvements; and
2. To provide informative venue to all Paulinian students, alumni and visitors for the whole week
celebration.
Guidelines:
1. Each department will be given an area from the venue (Room 116-118) where they can display their
respective exhibits.
2. The venue will be using flat screen TV, tables and sofas and/or comfortable seats for the visitors. The
show room will then be turned as a registration area during the alumni homecoming.
3. There should be two student representatives and one faculty member per department to help
prepare the venue on October 22, 2014 at 4:00 pm.
4. The schedule of putting up of exhibits will be on October 23, 2014.
5. There should be a guest book for documentation.
6. Each department must assign two student representatives that would assist the possible visitors. PRU
members will be assigned during the alumni homecoming. The following dates will be the
schedule of assisting:
October 24 -PRU members October 27 -Basic Ed
October 25 -CAED October 28 -CON
October 26 -CBIT
7. Each department must submit an informative video presentation about their own department. This

General Guidelines for University Parade:
• The arrangement of the parade will be from the oldest alumni batch to the youngest SPUD students, so to have a storyline
• Each Unit will represent the 10 ASEAN countries excluding the alumni• Each unit will have a float• Each unit will have 100 participants for the street dancing• The rest of the members of the unit will be in an “attire” and have hand props that
symbolizes the ASEAN country that they represent. • There should be no other vehicle allowed within each unit except the Unit with students
below 10 years old.
Parade Participants:
Each participant must maintain a forward momentum with no slowing, stopping or rerouting from the group. Except for several times allotted for the street dancing
All unit entries should wear the designated unit uniform or costume. No handouts or items be thrown or be distributed to the crowd unless the unit belongs to
the external affairs office. Walking units should be preceded by a professionally made banner. 1 Official college banner for the walking units 1 Float banner Identification banners should be limited to one per unit with the exemption of the parade
sponsor. Mascots may walk with the unit or may ride in an approve vehicle The walking participant must be a minimum of ten years old. There is however no

Float:
All parade vehicles must be in very good running condition. Smoke belching vehicles and trucks are strictly prohibited. Floats must be skirted and be decorated according to the theme of the parade. All decorative materials must not be too high that will reach the city electrical wirings. Smoking is strictly prohibited during the parade. All side rails/barriers are required to prevent a person and objects from falling off a float
and/or parade vehicle. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license

Guidelines for Street Dancing
Each contingent will be assigned a country member from the ASEAN. Each contingent will showcase the culture and tradition of the assigned country through street
dance. The contingent shall be certified by the Dean/Head of each department as its official
representative of the street dance as their confirmation of participation. Each contingent shall be composed of 50 performers who should be bona fide students of St.
Paul University Dumaguete in the year 2014-2015. Each contingent shall include one (1) female and one (1) male participant who shall be lead
performers for the group. The contingent shall provide for its own costumes and props appropriate for its motif/ theme
representation. Each contingent shall be preceded by a banner prominently identifying the college/ department
represented. The contingent shall include a decorated support vehicle (considered as a float) for musical
accompaniment or drum corps. Street dancing shall be a progressively moving forward performance. Stopping is allowed only in
a designated judging and performance area where the group shall perform their dance presentation for a minimum of two (2) minutes and maximum of three (3) minutes.
Flammable and explosive pyrotechnics and devices are strictly prohibited.

Mechanics for the Art and Photo ExhibitObjective:
1. To showcase local talents in the field of artworks and photography.Mechanics
1. The committee will be inviting Dumaguete Local Artists and Photographers to display their
artworks and photo pieces at the lobby beside Rooms 116-118 and the lobby beside the
finance up to the SOA office.
2. The exhibit is a photo and visual art exhibit.
3. The paintings will be installed using panel boards/installation boards.
4. The artworks will be showcased for the whole week celebration.
5. The artists will provide also the labels and prices of their works (if the piece is for sale).
6. The artists are responsible for the installation of their works and are also responsible for
keeping all their works the end of the day.
7. Inventory of all the artworks and photos will be done to account all the pieces displayed for
the exhibit. An inventory notebook will be provided with the complete information of every
artwork or photo piece.
8. Guests that will visit the exhibit will be requested to sign in the guest book for
documentation purposes.
9. The artists are responsible for the selling transaction of their piece and artwork and should
therefore be present during the whole duration of the exhibit.
10. 10% of the total price of the piece, when sold, will be given to SPUD and 90% of it will go to
the artist.

Guidelines for Poster Making (for Mural Painting)
1. The poster drawing contest is open for all officially enrolled students of the University.
2. The contest will be held on the first week of August.
3. Each department is requested to send at least three groups of students.
4. Each group should be composed of three members.
5. The poster will be drawn on the spot by the assigned students.
6. The groups will be given 2 hours to finish the poster.
7. All designs must be original and should be reflective of the Founder’s Day theme.
8. The poster must be drawn on a one whole white cartolina.
9. Art materials that can be used: watercolor, poster colors , pastel crayons and colored pens.
10. Materials will be provided by the participating departments.
11. The top 6 winners of the poster making contest will replicate their drawings as murals on the
walls of the university at the side of the 3rd gate. (mural painting activity will have separate
guidelines)
Guidelines For Mural Painting
1. Only the top 6 winners of the poster making contest will be allowed to replicate their drawings
as murals paintings.
2. The mural will be painted by the same students who drew the winning posters.
3. The dimension of the mural should be 2 x 3 meters.
4. Each group should pre-paint their area with white background at least a day before painting
their mural.
5. The team’s department will provide for their materials.
6. The group is encouraged to use latex paint or any paint material designed for cemented surface.
7. The groups will be given a week to finish the mural painting.
8. Only top 3 paintings will be chosen as 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners.

Mechanics For Bible Quiz
1. The competition is open to all students of St. Paul University Dumaguete. Each participating team is
limited to 5 members, composed of one student from CAED, one student from CBIT, one student
from CON, one high school student and one grade school pupil.
2. Each team is provided with a watcher who will raise the team’s answer to be shown to the audience.
3. The Christian Formation Office will prepare 10 questions with answers and biblical references for each
category (Identification; Multiple Choice; Who Said it and To Whom it Was Said; & Open Bible).
The coverage of the questions will be taken from the four Gospel writings. All questions are written
in English.
4. Contestants will be given 10 seconds to answer Identification and Multiple choice, 20 seconds for
Who said it and to whom it was said category and 30 seconds for Open Bible Category.
5. Each category has a corresponding point: Identification and multiple choice, one point, who said it
and to whom it was said, 2 points and 3 points for open bible category.
6. The questions will be read twice by the quiz masters.
7. The contestants will be given a signal when to start answering the questions, when they hear the first
prolonged beep it means that they will start writing their answers and when they hear the second
prolonged beep they should stop writing the answer. The assigned watcher for each team will
raise their answers up.
8. The Bible version to be used for the competition will be the New American Bible in Today’s English
Version. This version has the Imprimatur and a Nihil Obstat. This will be provided by the Christian
Formation Office and will only be distributed during the Open Bible Category.
9. In case of a tie, additional questions will be given to the contestants.

GUIDELINES:a. Every participating team is entitled to be represented by 5 (five) contestants working as a team.
Each team sould be heterogeneous, represented by one student from the different departments and colleges. Once a team lacks one member, it shall be considered disqualified.
b. There will be five teams that will be competing.c. Each contestant must be bonafide student of the SPUD.d. Registration forms must be accomplished completely and submitted together with the
photocopy of the school ID with picture of each contestant.
QUIZ CONTEST MECHANICS1. The contest is divided into three (3) phases: the Easy, Moderate, and Difficult Phases2. The Easy Phase will be composed of 10 Questions; the Moderate Phase will be composed of 10
Questions;and the Difficult Phase will be composed of 10 Questions. Questions may be ojective type or free-response type.
3. Questions are mixed Math and Science.4. In between phases, there will be a two-minute lull.5. At the end of each phase, the cumulative score of each contestant will be computed.6. At the end of the contest, the contestant with the highest cumulative score will be declared the
Champion. The next two highest scoring contestants will be declared First and Second Runner ups, respectively.
7. Each team will be provided with board and pen, from which they will write their answers.8. The teams shall be given 10 seconds to answer each question.9. A signal shall be given for the teams to write their answer on their boards.10. Once the board is raised, nobody is allowed to make any changes to their answer.

THE BREAKING MECHANICS1. In case of a tie at the end of the last phase of this contest, a tie breaker will immediately ensue

score over the other.3. The first contestant to gain an advantage in score will be declared the victor of the tie and will
merit the corresponding award.4. Scores for each question shall follow that of the Difficult Phase.

CONTEST GUIDELINES
1. The contest is open to all non-professional groups in Dumaguete City and neighboring towns. Groups who have already released their own music through various means (including, but not limited to: albums, EPs, radio airplays, and commissioned recordings) may not be allowed to join.
2. Each group is given 15 minutes to perform during the contest, which includes set-up time, performance, and exit. The time will commence once any member of the band is on stage. A point will be deducted from the group’s final score for every minute excess or fraction thereof.
3. The groups are given liberty to play 2-3 songs. They (should play at least one original composition/may opt to play original compositions or cover songs), subject to the following rules:
a. The songs may be in Cebuano, Tagalog, or English.b. The message/lyrics of the songs should cover any of the following contest themes: (1)
Christian faith; (2) SPUD Advocacies, which includes (a) Environment, (b) Peace, (c) Disaster Management, and (d) Pro-life
c. The organizers recognize the uniqueness of each music genre. The group may opt to perform any genre of music, provided that all songs performed should have an element of rock music in them (including but not limited to: amplified/overdriven guitars, upbeat tempo). This is to provide a common baseline for judging the performances.
d. Music is a form of art and the organizers respect the performers’ craft. However, all forms of art should be expressed appropriately. Vocal screams and growls consistent with hardcore/heavy metal musical style are discouraged for this contest. The organizers reserve the right to cut the performance of any artist in the event that any of the above-mentioned offenses are committed.

Students’ Talent Explosion
Guidelines:
1. All participants should be currently enrolled in SPUD.2. All acts must adhere to no more than 5- minute time limit.3. Only Music, Lyrics, Dress, and Acts appropriate for Paulinians will be permitted.4. NO lip synching. Recorded backup music must be instrumental only.5. There should be no duplication of music, dance and songs; hence, music/songs will be selected
in a first come, first serve basis.6. Dress Rehearsal is mandatory.7. Participants will be given notification for rehearsal schedules. All participants should attend the
open rehearsal.8. Students should be PREPARED at the time of the audition.9. We will give SOME guidance at the Open Rehearsal/ Production coordination, but the
participating students will need parents’/guardians’/teachers’ help and support.10. Flips and risky actions are not allowed. 11. Be prepared to enter and exit the stage quickly to keep the show flowing. Therefore, plan ahead
with any “set up/tear down” your performance might require. 12. An opportunity for sound checks will be provided at 5:00 p.m. on the day of the show. All sound
checks must be completed by 6:15 p.m. therefore full rehearsals will not be allowed. 13. Any cancellations must be reported to our office 10 days before the date of the show to avoid
obliteration of the flow of the program.14. Students who wish to perform the TALENT EXPLOSION should audition on the dates set by the

Guidelines:
Team
Each department is allowed to send only two teams.
• No mixed team will be allowed to participate. Debaters in the team must be bona fide
students of St. Paul University Dumaguete and should come from the same department.
• Officers of the Paulinian Debate Society will not be allowed to participate.
• Replacement of team/ team members is strictly not allowed, once their names are
submitted.
• A winning team will be declared basing on the team score; Best Speaker, Best Debater
and Best Rebuttal Speaker titles will also be awarded.
Debate Format
• The British Parliamentary Debate format will be used in the contest.
• Speaker Roles (OG,OO,CG,CO) will be determined during the contest proper via drawing
of lots.
• Only printed references will be allowed in the debate, electronic devices are strictly
prohibited.

Choir
Rules and Guidelines:
1. There will be 1 group representative per department and college/program (Elementary, High School,
CON, CAED, HRM/T, BSBA/IT, BSA/MAC).
2. Each choral group will sing 2 songs: one religious and one secular. Both songs maybe in English,
Visayan and / or Filipino.
3. The two songs maybe arranged for 2- parts, 3 part, 4 part or mixed voices and must be at least one
minute and thirty seconds each in performance time. A contest piece will be _____
4. The second piece must be lively and fast.
5. The conductor maybe a teacher or a student of the college represented.
6. The performing choir must be composed of 20-30 members, all bona fide students of the college
represented. The choir members must be in their school uniform.
7. Live piano, and/ or guitar shall be used as accompaniment or a capella. Absolutely no MIDI for
accompaniment
8. No employment of props and lighting effects for both pieces. No fire, confetti and pyrotechnics.
9. Participating choir must attend the final and technical rehearsal which shall be scheduled by the
organizing committee.
10. There shall only be one minute allotted for entrance and exit.
11. The contest will be on October 27, 2014, 2:00pm @ FLCH.
12. Strict compliance on these rules is directed.
13. The decision of the panel of judges is final, irrevocable and executory.

Each unit will represent an ASEAN Country and another not represented by any other department
Prior to this each unit will have drawn lots already of what country they will be presenting The participants in the mass demonstration will not be part of the street dancing contingent
to avoid conflict of schedules during practices. Since we are showcasing culture of different ASEAN Countries, it is but fitting that we will be
in proper costume depending on what country the unit will be presenting. Each unit must present a breakdown of the costume and props needed and the list of
students involved to the Finance office before the midterms (college) and 2nd grading period (BE) to be added to their tuition fee for easy collection

The practice schedules will be presented to the committee. The order of the program and countries to be represented will be agreed by the committee The program of the Mass Demonstration will include the closing of booths and awarding of

Dumaguete City is facing the current security problem of terrorism, fire and earthquakes aggravated by unsolved killings of innocent civilians by unidentified assailants.
The unsolved killings of innocent civilians and the occurrence of fire and earthquakes are also considered threat to St. Paul University Dumaguete students, faculty and staff and the administration.
St. Paul University Dumaguete 110th Founders’ Day Celebration and other activities should be given prior consideration as far as security is concerned, considering the fact that life preservation is the greatest law of nature.

To establish and maintain an effective security plan that shall:
Prevent and eliminate the occurrence of any untoward incident that involves the faculty, staff, students, parents, visitors, GUEST OF HONOR and the entire PAULINIAN community, especially those who will be attending the activity.

not yet spread.9. Security Committee shall immediately respond while the BFP/Emergency Response Team of the
Province shall be noted for assistance.10. The “All clear” signal will be sounded.
In Case of Bomb Threats In the event that a bomb threat is received, it is important for the person receiving the call to attempt to keep the caller on the telephone as long as possible. It is also important to listen carefully to all information provided by the caller and to make a note of any voice characteristics, accents, or background noises. In case of bomb threat, the security committee shall immediately locate and isolate the bomb. While this is done, bomb squad team of PNP and military will be notified for disposal of the bomb.

Any compliant regarding the Security Check and Inspection procedure should also be directed to the Security and ROTC Post/Booth.

B. Reporting Crimes and EmergenciesAll crime related incidents shall be reported immediately to the Security and ROTC Post/Booth.
SECURITY AND ROTC POST/ BOOTHThe mission of the Security and ROTC Post/Booth is to oversee the organization and
preparedness program in order to safeguard lives and protect property during the affair. The security post is composed of the Security Committee Chair, V-Chair, and members, PNP Personnel and university security guards representatives.
The Chair of Security Committee is the designated ground commander and responsible for the supervision/direction to all emergency response effort of SPUD Security groups. He is assisted by the V-Chair and members of the Security Committee of St. Paul University Dumaguete.
