A Room 8 inquiry for Term 4 is science. We
answered 3 questions about what we thought
science was. We then did 2 experiments, the
Cartesian Diver and rattle back. After we did the
experiments we went back to the previous
questions that we answer and added to it.
Room 8 is the class responsible for the PE trolley,
lunches and lost property. Over the past week
there has been a big amount of lost property
coming in. The gear in lost property ranges from
jumpers, t-shirts, shoes, socks, drink bottles and
some random stuff we don't know the use for.
Week 6 of term 4 is Athletics. The Year 8’s
athletics day is on Tuesday 19th of November
and the Year 7’s are on Thursday 21st of
November. Everyone who participates will earn
points for their house. There are 8 events on
athletics days: high jump, long jump, 100m,
200m, shot put, discus, wheel relay and cricket
ball throw.

Beeswax Wraps – Graeme Dingle Foundation BoP
By purchasing Bees Wax Wraps from the Graeme Dingle Foundation, you are not only making a better choice for the planet by helping to reduce plastics, you are also supporting the young people in our local community. 100% of all proceeds from the sale of our wraps go back into running our GDF programmes here in the western Bay of Plenty.
Our beeswax infused, 100% cotton food wraps are the perfect choice for you and the environment. They are:
Reusable Sustainable Durable Natural Breathable
The sizes available are: Extra Large – 42x30cm Large – 30x30cm Medium – 25x25cm
Price List:
Small - 25cm x 25cm Wrap
$7.00
Medium - 30cm x 30cm Wrap
$8.00
Large - 42cm x 30cm Wrap
$10.00
As these are hand-made there may be a small variation in size, shape and pattern placement.
Using your Beeswax Wraps
The natural beeswax coating means that the wraps are malleable at room temperature. Using the warmth and pressure of your hands you can mold it around any dish, jar or bowl; fold it around snacks, bread, cheese, and fruit and veges; or use your wrap in the same way you would use waxed paper, folding and sealing around sandwiches or home baking. Alternatively you can press and fold the edges to make pouches for smaller snack items such as nuts and dried fruit. They also make a fantastic (and multi-purpose) alternative to gift wrap or to wrap a bouquet.
Caring for your Beeswax Wraps
Your beeswax wrap can be reused many times and with care it can last for up to one year. Simply wipe clean with a damp cloth or hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent if necessary. Air or towel dry. Store flat in a dry place.

YEAR 7 VISION TESTING OPT OUT FORM BELOW
Please return this form by Wednesday 6th November, if you DO NOT wish your child to have their vision tested.
YEAR 7 VISION SCREENING
Dear Parents/Caregivers On Monday 11 November 2019, the Vision Hearing Technicians, from the Bay of Plenty District Health Board, will be visiting our school to carry out routine distance vision screening. All students in Year 7 are included in this as part of the National Screening Programme. The screening test used checks distance vision only. It is NOT a full eye examination. (If you have concerns about close vision, please take your child to an optometrist).
- The student covers one eye and reads letters from a chart at a distance of 4 metres. - Boys also have a colour vision test. - Parents will be notified, by post, only when the screening results require further
testing by an optometrist. If you DO NOT wish to have your child’s vision tested for any reason, eg: if they have recently been examined by an optometrist or eye specialist, please sign the form below and return it to school before the testing date. Students who already have prescription glasses, do not need to be tested but DO need to return the below form.
Please cut here and return slip -----------------------------------------------------------------
