Membership of the Mudgee Show Society
Have you ever considered becoming a member of the Mudgee Show Society? If not, NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT! This Society now preparing for the 2020 Mudgee Show would welcome your support.
A considerable number of our Members believe that by taking out Membership of the Mudgee Show Society, they are assisting in keeping this Mudgee icon as a feature of the calendar year. Not many other events in Mudgee can lay claim to the fact that for over 150 years the Mudgee Show has entertained, acted as a meeting place for Mudgee identities, given Exhibitors the opportunity to exhibit livestock, showcase the many talents through home industries, horticultural and other areas. One of the most important facts is that the Show has provided a ready-made audience for enterprising stall holders to promote and showcase their product. Many of the earlier stall holders have gone on to become well known with their product, both locally and further afield.
The Mudgee Show Committee consists of a small group of dedicated voluntary Members. The Committee also relies on Stewards to assist on Show Day. Any assistance in any area on Show Day is appreciated.
If you would like to become a Member of the Mudgee Show Society, or if you have not renewed your Membership for 2020, please give consideration to filing out our membership form and returning it to the Secretary of the Society. Where else can you get such entertainment for such a low cost?
Membership tickets will be posted out on receipt of your form and remittance — a stamped, self addressed envelope would be appreciated.
For more details on what is happening at the 2020 Show, visit our website www.mudgeeshow.org.au — from January 2020, you can look at the schedule, get contact details for all the Chief Stewards and even download your entry forms for sending into the Office. The schedule will also be available in December 2020, from Landmark Mudgee, Elders Mudgee, Mudgee Visitor's Centre andHusbands Saddlery.
Thank you for your support, we just could not do it without you! We look forward to seeing you at the 2020 Mudgee Show.
Yours sincerely,
Mudgee Show Society.

President’s Welcome
Welcome to the 2020 Mudgee Show and Rodeo, the 175th consecutive show. After being a member, exhibitor, Vice President, President and Chief Steward for the Poultry section, for the Show Society since moving to the district a number of years ago, it is an honour to be elected as president of this historic Show Society and its dedicated band of committee members.
I would like to thank Allison Beer our Secretary, Hunter White our hard working Treasurer who keeps us all in line and the books balanced and all the other mem-bers who take time out for this community event.
The Mudgee Show is a community society and relies heavily on local sponsorship and we acknowledge those businesses that put their hands deep into their pock-ets to support the local community, so I ask you to support them and come along to the 2020 show and enjoy the many events that have been organized over the period of the show.
The committee are always looking for helpers, new members to help leading up to and during the show. If you feel you may be able to help in any way, please contact the secretary or any of the committee members whose contact details are in the schedule, you will always be most welcome.
I would also like to thank the Mid Western Regional Council for presenting us with an excellent showground that has been so well maintained.
There will be lots to do and see at the 2020 Show and Rodeo, so please come along and enjoy your time with us at this beautiful showground right

The following recipe must be used for all entries:
INGREDIENTS
250g (8 oz) Sultanas
250g (8 oz) Chopped Raisins
250g (8 oz) Currants
125g (4 oz) Chopped Mixed Peel
90g (3 oz) Chopped Red Glace Cherries
90g (3 oz) Chopped Blanched Almonds
1/3 Cup Sherry or Brandy
250g (8 oz) Plain Flour
60g (2 oz) Self Raising Flour
1/4 Teaspoon Grated Nutmeg
1/2 Teaspoon Ground Ginger
1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cloves
250g (8 oz) Butter
250g (8 oz) Soft Brown Sugar
1/2 Teaspoon Lemon Essence or finely Grated Lemon Rind
1/2 Teaspoon Almond Essence
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Essence
4 Large Eggs
METHOD
Mix together all the fruits and nuts and sprinkle with the sherry or brandy. Cover and leave for at least 1 hour, but
preferably overnight. Sift together the flours and spices. Cream together the butter and sugar with the essences. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, and then alternately add the fruit and flour mixtures. Mix thoroughly. The mixture should be stiff enough to support a wooden spoon. Place the mixture into a prepared tin no larger than 20 cm (8") and bake in a slow oven approximately 3.5 to 4 hours. Allow cake to cool in the tin.
NOTES
To ensure uniformity and depending upon the size, it is suggested the raisins be snipped into 2 or 3 pieces, cherries into 4 to 6 pieces and almonds crosswise into 3 or 4 pieces.
The Winner is eligible to make a cake for judging at the Castlereagh Final, October 2018. The Winner at Group then
