MULBERRY STREET UNITED METHODIST CHURCH October 14, 2018 www.mulberrymethodist.org October 17, 2018 Celebrate Mulberry! “…For God, all things are possible.” Mark 10:27 Dearest Mulberry Street brothers and sisters, On Wednesday, October 17 th , the church will be gathering to celebrate what God has done, is doing, and will do with us as God’s church. The evening will include delicious food, warm fellowship, and telling the story of our church over the past year. It will also include sharing with the church the status of planning and organizing for 2019, and the steps that are being taken to discover, dream, design, and deliver what God has in store for us in the coming years. And finally, we will be challenging you and your family to join us in this new chapter of our journey through your time, your talents, and your gifts. As you read this, the Strategic Planning Team will have convened, beginning their journey together praying, discussing, and dreaming about who we are as a church and what direction we think we’re going for the 2019 and the years to come. This team consists of our Lay Leader and the chairpersons of Church Council, SPRC (incoming and outgoing), Finance, Trustees, Conference Delegate-at-large, and four appointees I’ve chosen, as well as members of our church staff. Although I will be happy to entertain questions at any time about our planning process, the strategic concept, and financial requirements, I will be hosting three question and answer sessions on the following dates and times: Sunday, October 21, 3:00-4:30; Tuesday, October 23, 12:00-1:30; and Wednesday, October 24, 4:00-5:30. This discerning process began in May with the securing a church consultant, Rev. Dr. Roger Ross. Dr. Ross assisted us in assessing the current climate of our church. The report of his visit, available upon request, already informs many of the steps I am taking and plan to take. Roger will advise in the months to come. I’m excited about how the Holy Spirit is moving among us. I’m proud to be your pastor as we consider what God has in store for Mulberry Street as we enter the third century of our existence. See you at the celebration! In Christ, Matt

Celebrate Mulberry! “…For God, all things are possible.” Mark 10:27

Dearest Mulberry Street brothers and sisters, On Wednesday, October 17th, the church will be gathering to celebrate what God has done, is doing, and will do with us as God’s church. In Christ,

Matt

Fall Festival is right around the corner! We hope you will join us on Sunday, October 21st from 4:30-7:00 for games, prizes, and great food! Costumes are encouraged. Children of all ages will enjoy the outdoor games and activities from 4:30-6:00.

This year we are also adding TRUNK-OR-TREAT to the festivities. We welcome you to decorate your car and bring candy to hand out to our tiniest trick-or-treaters. You may also choose to have your Sunday School Class or other group decorate one car together. (Please let us know if you are able to decorate your car so that we will have enough parking spaces available.)

We will continue the celebration in the Fellowship Hall from 6:00-7:00 to enjoy Chili and Apple Pie. (We encourage anyone who would like to bring a pot of chili or a pie to share to do so. If you would like to enter the Chili or Apple Pie Contest, please have your dishes to the Fellowship Hall by 5:00 for judging.)

We couldn't do this without the help of volunteers. If you are able to help, follow the link below to the signup sheet. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f094faea622a6fe3-mulberry1

You may also email or call/text Clare Rauls (478-731-6813) or [email protected] to sign up.

Assistance Needed

Macon Outreach is low on funds. We are currently feeding around 200 people a day and we are also running full capacity on pantry days which is 50 families a week. We are so grateful

to be able to serve and love the community at Macon Outreach.

This time of year our funds are low, so we are asking you to dig deep and help us provide for these families by giving a monetary donation.

Checks can be made out to Macon Outreach and be placed in the offering plate on Sunday, dropped by at the church office,

or be mailed to Macon Outreach, PO Box 149, Macon, GA 31202.

We appreciate all your gifts that allow Macon Outreach to feed the Macon community.
