1 July 2017 Multiple District 105 Multiple District Lioness Chairman 2017 to 2019 - Jeannette Morgan Issue 12 July 2017 Welcome everyone to the start of another Lionistic year when I am sure we will have the opportunity to continue with some great fundraising and service work in our local, national and international communities. The new Lioness Directory of Officers has been published so if you haven’t already received them, please do contact your District Officer who has copies for you as it is important you take note of the new District and Multiple District Officers and send any information to the correct person. Sunday 25th June was a very proud day for me as I had the honour of taking over the role of Multiple District 105 Lioness Clubs Chairman from Lioness Angela whom I am sure you will agree has done a tremendous job over the past two years and I know she will be a hard act to follow. Having met with Council Chairman Heather at the Lions MD Convention in May I am confident that the Lionesses of Multiple District 105 have a bright future. The Lions are committed to finding a way in which Lioness Clubs can continue to exist in a format which not only meets with the requirements of the 2011 Charities Act but is also acceptable to both the individual Lionesses and their sponsoring Lions Clubs. As Lioness Angela is continuing as the Lioness Clubs Co-ordinator we will both be working alongside the Lions as they continue to develop their relationship with the Charities Commission and every effort will be made to ensure that Lionesses form an integral part of that. There is no doubt that as I write this article there is a little bit of sadness in me, as my first duty as Chairman was to visit Northallerton Lioness Club for a presentation evening which was their final meeting before closure of the Club. After 28 years of serving their community they have been unable to secure officers for the coming year and after much deliberation the members decided that they no longer wanted to continue and the Club should close. With over 20 members this is not only a great loss to Lionesses but to the Lions movement as a whole and of course to their local community in which they were so active but I know you will all join me in wishing them all well and hopefully we will continue to hear from them and maybe even see them at some of our future events. As I am only a few days into the Chairman’s role I am just starting to put together my diary of upcoming events and I would therefore ask clubs to let me know dates of any special events including anniversaries lunches/dinners, key service or fund-raising activities and of course any district meetings or events. So as we start the new year let’s celebrate our existence and show everyone we are united as one organisation with a common goal to serve our communities.
