UNESCO-UNEVOC Mission

UNESCO-UNEVOC attachments are one of the strategies the

UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre employs to realize its

goal of capacity building of TVET educators and strengthening

the UNEVOC Network. Therefore, attachments are ultimately

intended to help with the planning, implementation or evalua-

tion of UNEVOC Centres’ strategies and activities. These concern

issues such as quality assurance of TVET, accessibility of TVET, the

integration of TVET into concepts of lifelong learning, capacity

building of TVET institutions, the co-operation between UNEVOC

Centres and knowledge sharing.

The UNEVOC Network is a unique platform for the sharing of

knowledge and experiences regarding all aspects of TVET and

consists of specialized TVET institutions - the UNEVOC Centres -

in most UNESCO Member States. The Network is co-ordinated

by the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre.

What is the purpose of attachments?

The purpose of attachments is to provide opportunities for TVET

experts from UNEVOC Centres to contribute to the work of the

UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre and to the capacity of

the UNEVOC Network of TVET institutions. Their contribution

may be in the areas of analysis of national and regional TVET policies,

identification and selection of strategies to promote TVET, and imple-

mentation of TVET policies. The UNESCO-UNEVOC International

Centre’s role would be in mentoring the expert who, in turn, is

expected to contribute to capacity building in his or her home insti-

tution and their respective networks. Attachments are a part of

UNESCO-UNEVOC’s capacity-building strategy.

Who are attachments for?

UNESCO-UNEVOC attachments promote capacity building in the

UNEVOC Network. They are primarily available for TVET professionals

including TVET policy makers, managers, teachers and instructors at

UNEVOC Centres, human resources and training managers, as well as

academics associated with UNEVOC Centres. In addition, they are

offered to other professionals or academics in a discipline or faculty

which is relevant for TVET. Qualified TVET professionals would either

be:

>> Senior experts;

>> Officials or specialists from ministries or national TVET

authorities;

>> Young professionals preparing for leadership positions in

administration and/or TVET delivery in UNEVOC Centres;

>> Academics who are researchers or lecturers in TVET or who are

involved in teacher training;
