PROJECT 1—Understanding the potential of an artist
You are to develop your skills in A&R (Artist & Repertoire).
A&R is all about discovering the ‘next big thing’! you are
searching for potential in an artist and will have a part to
play in developing their style, stage presence, stage craft
and ensuring their health and safety in various environ-
ments. You will be working here in the context of an audi-
tion for the artist. The audition is a pitch to a record label,
through collaboration with the artist you are to create
A&R guidance plan which will outline what will enable
the artist to perform at their best in the audition.

In this pathway you are to collaborate with two or more artists to research, plan and create their
A&R guidance plan for an auditioning performance.
YOUR PRESENTATION MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING!
Review current skill set in business & present some re-
sources and information tools that will support your devel-
opment.
Evidence the analysis of an audition in the music industry ,
establish your collaboration links with a music artist(s) And
gauge the artists initial requirements.
Research a range of A&R techniques and provide aims for
A&R guidance brief based on your artists requirements and
performance environment.
Describe appropriate measures as part of your aims that
will ensure consistent good practice in health and safety.
Present your A&R guidance plan for your artist(s)

Your tutor will make assessment notes during the practical session to be
submitted along with the video.
Note you may wish to refer to these notes in Task 3 evaluation.
