The Early Years
Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood.
Competent on keyboard and violin
Composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty.
Employment at the Salzburg court
Mozart was employed as a court musician by the ruler of Salzburg, Prince- Archbishop Hieronymus Colloredo
Mozart’s Opera Success
In January 1781, Mozart's opera Idomeneo premiered with "considerable success"
Married Life
Mozart faced a very difficult task in getting his father's permission for the marriage.
He married Constanze in St Stephen’s Cathedral August 4, 1782.
Mozart the Piano Soloist
Die Entführung aus dem Serail, was a great success. After this Mozart did little operatic writing for the next four years, producing only two unfinished works and the one-act Der Schauspieldirektor.
He focused instead on his career as a piano soloist and writer of concertos.

movement No.1 00:00- The main theme is
presented in the violins over a series of pulsating octaves in the lower strings. The theme is in g minor and is divided into two balanced phrases.
00:20-Continuing strings and adding woodwinds to fill the melody.
00:30- Violins and woodwinds keep the melody and the rhythm going.
00:60- Theme 2 strings and woodwinds just ended the transition phase the dynamics are a bit softer.
01:30- Exposition closing section ascending chromatic scale, strings and bassoons. Motive tossed from one instrument to another.

Mozart’s Final Days
Mozart fell ill while in Prague on September 6, 1791.
Mozart was nursed in his final illness by his wife and her youngest sister
Requiem in D Minor was left unfinished when Mozart died
Mozart student Franz Xaver Sussmayr completed the piece in 1792
Mozart died December 5, 1791, at the age of 35
Mozart was buried at St. Marx Cemetery on December 7, 1791
