Target Audience & Needs

The target audience would be people that enjoy listening to the music genre electronic/pop, The music video features a man in drag singing in what looks like a social club, he/she sways seductively to the rhythm of the music as the audience looks uninterested and bored. One by one people start to get up and dance strangely towards the dance floor where the person is singing. Until the end of the video where you just get a close up one woman just sat down on her own. From this video I feel as the target audience would be aimed at transvestites or the gay community and because there is not a lot of songs and videos out there that show this and that they are accepted. It showing people at the beginning being ignorant to the female impersonator but at the end accepting her. In the music video you see different ethnicity groups all sat separated and it’s as if it takes this one person to get everyone up dancing together at the end as if there’s a message that everyone’s the same whether you are stereotyped as a chav, you have a different skin colour or the way you look and dress.

Lyrics (Meaning Implied?)

‘I’m in love with your brother’ is one of the main lyrics, the songs starts with this statement and is repeated consistently throughout the song.

Tempo Electropop songs are pop songs at heart, often with simple, catchy hooks and dance beats, but differing from those of electronic dance music genres which electropop helped to inspire, This song has a catchy beat and tempo with a simple backing track and is pleasing to the ears but as the female impersonator begins to sing it makes the song feel more uncomfortable which could relate to all the different ethnicity’s sat there together feeling uncomfortable but as we get to the end of the song and everyone is dancing happily together there is no singing it is just the backing music playing. Below is an example of how people were separated at the beginning and together at the end.

Genre Pass This On" by The Knife has an electric/pop genre. This genre is not a popular genre therefore this music sounds quite odd because

were not used to it.

Camera Technique In this music video there are many different shots such as a close up of the singers face. This is used so that people know that this person is a transvestite. When there is a close up it shows the certain body movements that she keeps doing that suggests the sexual side of the video. Long shot and Medium shots are also used to show the atmosphere of the room and the people watching her/him perform.

Editing The editing incudes a very high pitch vocal in the back, it also includes a lot of cutting throughout the video especially when a new

camera shot is used.

Use of Digital Effects The video has a very neutral colour scheme used throughout- using dark and light colour correction used throughout.
