KANGERLUSSUAQ – GREENLAND Summer 2020 The animal life around Kangerlussuaq has the largest herds of musk-ox in the world, and a large stock of caribou. Polar fox, polar hare, ptarmigan, sea eagle, peregrine falcon can often be seen. So far we have had 100% success in our hunts. You fly to Kangerlussuaq through Denmark or Iceland. Your host and his guides are raised within the Greenlandic culture, and they know everything about the behavior of the animals. Greenland has a big stock of musk-oxen. In Kangerlussuaq area there are about 4,000-5,000 animals living in an area which is unfenced. Vegetation and food supplies in general are excellent in this area. Which means that the musk-ox here grow to a size approximately 15% bigger than other places in Greenland. ITINERARY

Arrive Kangerlussuaq, either you stay one night at a hotel or go directly to the hunting grounds with a helicopter and start to hunt the same day.

Fly with a helicopter to hunting ground early morning. Full day hunting for musk-ox or caribou.

Arrangements

• Group sizes are from 4-8 people. Good to be 4-5 hunters + non hunters.

• In summer we travel by helicopter and small boat.

• If hunter is interested in taking more than one trophy, it must be settled before arriving. It can be either extra musk-ox or caribou.

• All trophies are shipped to a taxidermist in Denmark. Export papers, trophy packing and turn in for shipping and veterinary documentation, costs appr. EUR 200 for each trophy. Paid in Greenland.

The campThe hunters stay in a 4 room cabin staying 1-2 people in each room. The other cabin will be used for cooking, eating and as a place to talk and relax.

In camp we will have the information meeting and also be able to make test shots of the rifle if needed. The hunt start out the same day.

In summer the hunt is by foot, but there will also be some transportation by rubber boat on the lakes. Often we spot the musk-oxen from the small boat.

The FoodBreakfast: Bread with butter, cheese, jam, sliced meat and oats.Lunch: Usually we pack our own lunch from the breakfast table.Dinner: Big meals in the evenings, eg. Soup and meat.

Beverages is coffee, tea, juice and water. You are welcome to take alcoholic beverages with you, or you can arrange it with the outfitter in advance, so that the alcohol will be in camp on your arrival.

Weapons to GreenlandIt is allowed to bring firearms and ammunition to Greenland, remember to bring your “home country” weapon/hunt license. Contact your air flight company for info regarding air flight regulations. It is possible to rent a firearm from your outfitter.

The WeatherKangerlussuaq has an ‘’inland’’ climate with warm summers and cold winters. It is located above the polar circle and has an arctic climate.

NB! IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR BOW HUNTERS:Musk-oxBow hunters must obtain bow hunt license from home country. Only compound bow is allowed and it must be minimum 28 kg (60 pound) powered. Arrows minimum weight must be 525 grains (34 gr) and arrowheads are not to be mechanical. We only hunt caribous with riffles.

Transportation to/from campHunters must be in good physical health. A lot of walking is required and more if you are going caribou hunting. The hunt is by foot but there is also some transportation by rubber boats on lakes.

Passport and visaPassports are required. Non-EU citizens, please contact your local Danish Embassy or your travel agent.

Currency: Danish Kroner. There is no bank in Kangerlussuaq. Visa credit cards are accepted in the Post Office, supermarket and at the airport.

Insurance and safetyOn all trips we are equipped with satellite phone, GPS and first aid kit. On sail trips floating suits, VHF radio and emergency flares. Outfitter and guides are trained in first aid. Please make sure to buy a personal travel insurance.

Cancelations must be done in writing • if more than 130 days in advance. Iceland Outfitters keeps 15% of total price. • If between 75-129 days advance. Iceland Outfitters keeps 50% of total price.• If 74 days or less advance, no refund will be made.

Reimbursement• If hunter does not get the option to shoot a trophy because of non trophy situation in the hunting area, the hunter can reimburse EUR 600. • If hunter misses a shot of first or extra trophy we continue the hunt if we have time. But the trophy fee is not refunded.

IMPORTANT: Participants are required to obtain travel Insurance covering cancellation, illness, accidents and home transport.
