Proud Moments For English- men In Past Couple Of Weeks E ngland’s national football team have once again qualified for the group stage knockout phase of a tournament and in this case it is for the 2018 World Cup which is going to take place in Russia. Aſter 10 tough games England managed to gain 26 points ( won 8 of them and only drew twice, no losses). e group consisted of six teams; England, Slovakia, Scotland, Slovenia, Lithu- ania and Malta. Slovakia managed to outplay Scotland to finish the group as runners up to England. Some said England didn’t have any real competition but it turned out to be tough and full of pure hard work for the three lions to try and make it out of their group. Although it looks like England had it easy and it was just a walk in the park for them, it weren’t. England had managerial problems at the start of the campaign when Sam Allardyce had got sacked aſter just one game in charge of a 1-0 win vs slovenia aſter a 90 minute winner by Adam Lallana guaranteed three points. So it was a time where England were struggling to get a replacement and find someone who had a good cv with a good history of managerial roles. e man to replace Big Sam turned out to be U21’s manager at the time, Gareth Southgate. Gareth Southgate an England international, didn’t really have a good reputation aſter short spells at Aston Villa and Middlesbrough, and most imporatntly a penalty miss at the European champion- ships in 1996 which didn’t go down well with the English crowd. Recently England haven’t performed in the big competions such as the 2010 and 2014 world cup, plus suffered in the latter stages of the 2016 Euros. Pundits and legends of the game pointed that England team’s have never had the chemistry between the players and most of them were just turning up for their clubs and not country. On the bright side England have up and coming young talent such as Marcus Rashford and Harry Winks who are proving to be stars of the game. L ewis Hamilton wins fourth world title at the Mexican Grand Prix O n the 29th of october, Great Britain’s Lewis Hamilton managed to secure his fourth world title at the Mexican Grand Prix. Although, finishing in ninth place aſter a collision with fellow rival Sebastian Vettel he managed to overcome that situation and bag his fourth trophy. Over past couple of years Lewis Hamilton has been showing huge determination and courage to make it into the elite group of drivers who have won 4 or more world titles. ankfully that has paid off with hard work and plenty of practise from the Brit. However, Germany’s Michael Schumacher still holds the records for the number of race wins (91) and titles (7). Mr Schumacher retired at the age of 38 and Lew- is Hamilton is now 32 years old can he break the record for the number of titles won. He has had already broke the record for the number of pole positions which is a grand total of 72. at is quite impressive when you think about it. On the other hand, when you compare race wins Lewis Hamilton (62) is not that far off from Michael Schumacher’s 91. is is something that’s getting people talking about in terms of whether Lewis Hamilton has a chance or not. ere are even rumours going around that he is to conquer that by 2020 to become the greatest for- mula one driver of all time. Mo Farah has been travelling his whole life, of course he was born in Somalia and came to England when he was young so he is used to adapting to different enviroments as he struggled when he first came to England. It weren’t easy for him and his family as money was a problem back then so he had to graſt and put the work in order for him and his family to have an organised life with both money and shelter. Somalia has a reputation of being one of the poorest countries in the world so if you were poor then you were in agony, but if you were rich then your life was sorted and you had no problems. Mo Farah grew up with these circumstances, as he was born from a poor family who made sure to give Mo the best opportunity in order to succeed in life. at was when Mo had a love for running and found his talent in that particular activity/sport.
