--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Tyler Smith:

Position: Sg/sf,

College: Tennesse,

Age: 21,

Height: 6-7 f

Weight: 215 pounds

Strengths: Very good physical qualifications, high jump, full of energy, seems to enjoy the game

and gives all he got to it (thats why everyone love him). Strong, fast, pacer, scorer

Weakness: Right hand shoot problem (70% shoots are with left hand), needs work at 3point shoots

(technically but also psychologically I reckon). Of course its a little bit difficult as this player has

personal problems (his father has cancer). He needs to work also at dribbling the ball and more care

at making mistakes (which I believe its due to having no great experience).

One/One: Very Good

Transition: Good

Pick and Roll: Very Good

Spot Up: Good

Lever Skill to Nba: Typically yes, he does have the athletic prerequisites, the passion, the love for

the game - he scores with very impressive ways (showman). He needs to work his ball handling,

right hand, 3point shoot, and then we got a real NBA player in my opinion.

2) Nick Calathes:

Position: pg

College: Florida Sophomore

Age: 19

Height: 6-5 f

Weight: 185

Strengths: 3point shooter, scorer, very good in ball stealing, very good in dribbling (he knows what

to do with the ball).

Weakness: when his team is losing he always scores less (this is shown in his statistics too). Its

obvious he needs to work in psychological issues. He makes a lot of mistakes too when he gets

happily excited in the game. Weak and a bit slow for his position.

Lever Skill to NBA: With 10 as best i would put this player an 8. He is not ready for NBA. He

needs to work in his physical condition, speed, agility, if he manages that he could do for NBA, as

NBA needs another good shooter doesn't it?

One/One: Very Good

Transition: Very Good

Pick and Roll: Good

Spot Up: Good

3) Kostas Koufos

Position: C

College: Ohio State

Age: 19

Height: 7-0

Weight: 252

Strengths: scorer from all positions in the field, very good passer, leader in the game, born to put the

ball in the basket.

Weakness: Cant rebound (for his height). He needs to devote training in his defensive

responsibilities and not only in offensive. He needs improvement in athleticism, physical strength,

and then he will balance his offensive capabilities with his defensive.

Level Skill to NBA: A player with a future in NBA. He knows what his nature in the game is:

Offense.

One/One: Very Good

Transition: Very Good

Pick and Roll: Very Good

Spot Up: Good

Very good observation on Smith. He is a very talented and exciting player as I have been at some of

his games at Tennessee. I feel that he was a more explosive player than his team mate Chris Lofton

who the plays were mainly ran for.

make smith should become a two handed shooter. maybe it will help his explosvisness. Ther are alot

of more talented player. trust me... only one handed even I can shoot with both hands

that cent er to better suck it up when it comes to my propect B J Mullens and the PG position is a no

doubt battle with my prospect who is more younger and way more recoginze at such a younger age

from Spain.

I was a little surprised Koufos stayed in the draft this season, as he was very inconsistent in his one

year at Ohio State. He is too much of a finesse player for my liking. I would like to see him be able

to use his size more to his advantage. From what I saw of him, it seems like he doesn't really like

contact. He certainly has some skills, with a pretty good midrange jumper and a couple of post

moves that look like they could be very effective if he develops more consistency. And he seems to

possess pretty good instincts as a shot blocker. But does he even have a left hand? And I would like

to see more consistency from him as a rebounder. Overall, it seemed like his focus was very much

hit-and-miss.

Good post!

I really like how you broke down whether they were good in certain offensive situations (like one-

on-one). Smith is going to have a breakout season this year for sure! He's a decent ball handler and

he has plenty of experience due to being a top ranked high school player for '05 & again in '06. But

players like Josh Smith, Gerald Wallace, & Darius Miles are terrible ball-handlers and they are or

were in the NBA (was or were doing a great job). His mistakes are probably mental instead of

playing his game (which I had problems at times too when I played). But besides I think he will be

a solid NBA pro off the bench. Calathes reminds me of Shaun Livingston with a shot. He blew me

away a couple of years ago in the McDonald's All-Star game. His weakness were right on the

money and I some what agree with his strengths. I think he's more of a streaky 3-point shooter that

needs more work and might I add has great court vision (puts the ball right where it needs to be).

He'll definitely need time to develop but is destined to be a NBA starter that will have a good career.

I have to agree with Tracey that I was surprise as well when he decided to leave after an up and

down season (but they said he wasn't getting along with his coach). He has a left hand (better than

most) though but completely agree with everything you said on him (one of the easiest guys to

scout). I personally he'll be a great player with All-Star potential and is a definite upgrade in the

post for Utah off the bench with Millsap (he just needs that experience).

Good observation of Koufos. It seems like the Jazz drafted another Okur on the team that's a bit less

aggressive. I agree that he needs to get more physical since he will be playing the 5 position. With

his size right now he will not be able to put up a good fight against the true centers in the league. At

the same time he'll be able to draw out the bigs from the paint allowing low post scoring options

from Boozer or open lanes for the guards.

I think Koufos will be fine at the 5 in the league. Most nba 5's are not physical in my opinion, there

is only really a few nba players that are really really physical. Lot of 4's and 5's hanging out in 3

point land.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Setting: Euroleague 2007-2008

Game: Olympiakos - Real Madrid

Player: Giorgos Printezis

The game was for winning into the final four of Euroleague inside Spain and as you understand the

Spanish team Real Madrid had to win. The stadium was full of people who had intense emotions

about it. The game was man to man, point to point throught, until the young player Giorgos

Printezis enters the game and the Olympiakos players seemed to rejuvenate. He was full of energy

jumping high and will devotion to grab the rebound and at same time also devoted extremely to his

defensive duties towards the Spanish player Felepe Reyes, fighting with all he has ,opening space

for the scorers to shoot, making screens, he gave all for victory. He is not the kind of player who

will look for shots only to himself close behind arc, but if he has time to take shooting position, he

has proved he has whats it takes to shoot and win his points at a very nice clip. In this game he was

only catching and shooting and made it well. He scored as a mature player, in the right timing.

I am grading Giorgios Printezis high for ‘Effectiveness’ since he is a player who can change the

game, despite his stats show he isn’t very consistent with rebound when comparing total with play

offs performance.

By contrast when player Kostas Vasiliadis enters the game (great shooter 43% 3point, 64% 2fg) to

help for the final four needed win, he does what he would do in any less important game: takes a

position in the corners of the field to shoot and neglecting a bit his defensive duties towards Charle

Smith of Real Madrid. Smith with drive 4 and 3x3p he accumulates 14 points.

Conclusion

A player is effective when he can do what the coach requires him to do, provided he actually has the

ability to do it. Right now modern basketball wants the ‘perfect’ player who can do a lot of what the

couch will ask him to do. Those players who do most things to a satisfying level and perhaps are

maturer in the game logic and who can avoid turnovers, plus with a great self-assertion in free

shoot, will be favorite (EFFECTIVE) for coaches.

I agree with this as coach i would be very happy with my players if they did that..

I enjoyed your depiction of the atmosphere of european basketball. It brought back memories. I

think the others appreciate it but don't fully understand how basketball really is overseas. The fans

are always die hard they create exciting moments before and after the game, the coaches and

players are always under pressure. From experience if you are a player for a top team or a certain

high quality coach you are expected to produce and be effective every game no matter what or there

will be consequences. Winning is the most important!

No defense No Win

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No defense No Win,thats a "law" in basketball... most players in Europe show respect to it:) (in later

years in NBA too). I mean, most European teams do play defensively, unlike NBA.

We seen otherwise of course, the recent example of USA game with Spain in the final of Olympics

2008. The spanish coach, after he was convinced his team cannot do much just with good use of

defense (cause of difference in physical power being greater in the US team), he went straight for an

open offensive game attitude, just like an NBA team would. A wise decision-bet that almost would

work up to winning the game (and make THE surprise of basketball olympics). This offensive tactic

is mostly good for us, when we know the opponent will play an offensive game and maybe, on top

of that, when the opponent has physically stronger players (stamina and jump in Dreamteam's case).

You cannot win a game playing defensively against such players.

Many european national teams make it to the top in the league by playing offensively while

defending. One of them is Greece. Coach Panagiotis Giannakis for years now has implemented

exactly this 'system'. So what he does is picking players who are in general as Offensive as possible,

and puts them play good defense, and then these players play a game of a as close-knit team as

possible, not allowing anyone to be selfish or a 'star' of the team. So Greece is keeping itself high in

world and european championships for 10 years now.

I took a look on Germany's statistics to see what is this team's defence/offence rating, (Germany has

long since, in 1993, been a euro championship but cant do better since, altho its roster and talent

arent bad and they even have 2 NBA stars with them).

Germany-Greece

My comment is that Germany has a problem with circulation of the ball (paces), and had fewer

rebounds, which means fewer offenses for Germany, and the very strange fact that Nowitzki had

only 3 rebound and no defensive reb:/

Germany-Spain

Here one can see that again circulation of the ball was the problem (many turnovers), only 4 rebs

and 3 steals and Nowitzki with height 7.0' only 4 defensive reb and 1 offensive reb?

Germany-China

Here the turnover was 14!, tragic field goal (29) and Nowitzki who wanted to compete Yao Ming in

rebounds (17, here only Dirk remembered to rebound??) brought again a defeated game for German

team.

Finally, as we saw statistically, Germany's team cant work defensively and even more make what i

call offensive (aggressive) defense. A team without good percentage in rebound (and with

Nowitzki), and without good circulation of the ball (pacing), with considerable turnover, and a team

which in Offense expects everything from Dirk, except is some occasions when some other shooters

are 'in their best form' but usually its Dirk the one who has to do most work (and that is not a

teamwork game). Its sad that a player like Dirk is only used in Offense and cant do much in

defense. That is why they got Kaman this year, to balance offense and defense among the two. But

they forgot something very basic, its more of a teamwork (with the big stars) that wins game than

just the big stars alone.

No defense no win is sometimes ok but when a great defensive team make good stops and still

loose by a buzzer beater or a great play can cause defense to look broken down so a attackting

offensive team is very hard to stop. If they are shooting over 50% from the field and droping threes

will make it a long day for the defense

I can see where Zenon is coming from. After all, the motto "defense wins championships" would

not be one if it were not true.

Edward, you also have a great point. An attacking offense is a great way to break down the defense

and a attacking offense will win games for a team, but not a championship. When I think of

attacking offenses I think of the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors primarily. They do very

well during the season but when it comes down to playoff time where most team clamp it down on

defense, Phoenix and the Warriors do not make it very far.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sacha's Deal

I took a look in Sasha Vujacic's (Lakers) statistics to try enter the thinking of Lakers manager and i

saw many important issues. His initial thought was probably 'age factor' and the comparison

between, play time in the game and time to play that was given by the coach. So he really saw 'age-

play time given by coach-player performance statistics'. These and the players playing position

dynamics inside the team, are the 'tools' to decide if he should stay or not. In Sasha's example we

have a player 24 year old with continuesly evolving positive performance statistics (especialy

shoots) and as i said, player high performance in the given playtime going up with time, is saying to

the manager that he is going to go only better in his career, so why leave him to another time to

harness his talent and maturity in the game? Another attribute is of course players personality and

maybe psychological issue of 'character' and how much he is a team player or a solo showman.

Sasha's role in a team full of big stars like Kobe Bryant, Gasol, Odom and Arita is for sure not the

First role but the laker's manager -rightly thinking!- decided that in this new season Sasha will

probably get more play time by his coach as it happens slowly since Lakers had this player, and he

will even improve as said before so that, he will really establish himself as an important factor in

one of Nba's biggest teams. For a team to be 'excellent' its not only about having big stars to do

most work but have valued substitutes to carry on in times of need without jeopardizing the teams'

success. So a player like Sasha Vujacic, physically ok, with continualy improving stats of

performance, seemingly wants to succeed in his job 'undertake' ,devoted that is, YOUNG, and

perhaps not very demanding in salary issues, isnt that what a coach (and a manager) of every team

want?! The 4 million dollar for 3 years is a good deal for both sides and time will show how right

the manager was on this, but i think he has good reason to believe he made a correct choice.

It was a smart move for the lakers to bring Sasha back. I think along with his improving

performance, the Lakers brought him back due to team chemistry. Why would anyone break up a

team that had just gone to the finals? The Lakers made another good move by cutting his deal short

to three years instead of the five that was requested by Sasha.

I agree with you good move for Lakers. Sasha plays his role on that team, and improving on the

defensive end. I noticed during the end of the season, he was taking on the challenge of guarding

other teams better players.

how to maintain good teamwork attitude

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I could write A LOT about the importance of teamwork in basketball, since this is the weeks theme.

Many a time there is an issue we discuss about the actual good thing the big stars players are for the

game, what does the star system of sports offer to the team more than if it didnt exist at all and all

players where seen equal for what they offer, big 'stars' and substitutes alike?

Basket is a team based sport anyway, in which to get to Success you have to work together and

without much problem but here i think about what really makes people come to see the game in the

arena. And that is: Show. And who makes the show? The star players with impressive shots ,jump,

hoopshot etc.

The coach's role in creating a show is a factor too. The coach who is best will be the one who can

maintain balance in the team, between everyone feeling equal in terms of who is needed for the

team to succeed. Players can have ''individual self-confidence'' but they must also have teamwork

confidence, the coach's work is this.

A team with bad gossip, verbal fighting between its members, any sense of bad communication in

and outside the game, will never make 100% of its potential to play at best. The coach's role isnt

only to coach the players to play good basketball and prepare offensive and defensive diagrams to

deal with opponent teams/players but also to maintain an good level of psychological balance in his

star player so that he doesn’t go excessively egoist during the game, doing a selfish game in the end

and causing others to feel bad. So a balance is secured. The playmaker will give his best pass and

the scorer will shoot also his best, its good if they think also for the team's scoring ability instead of

just how much they themselves make.

As i read on this weeks assignments saying there isnt much of a statistical formula to prove how

well is the teamwork level , on this i would like to comment that substitute players' hard work may

not be visible to the fan of the game, so the coach should be sure to make these players feel

rewarded too.

For the Synergy Assignement

Player I watched: Cobe Bryand, in San Antonio VS La Lakers, on May 29 2008

5sop-1-0.33

Here Cobe waits his teamplayers to take their field positions, he decides to do a drive but 3

defenders go at him, he assists to Walton and Walton gives it back, in order to find time and space,

Cobe shoots under time threat.

5sop2- 0.23m-

Ginobili takes picks and roll, he wants to give the ball to Duncan but Cobe realises it and steals it

5sop3-0.12m

Cobe makes transition and offeres assist to Walton to hoopshoot

5sop4,0.28m

Cobe makes river dribble in front of Thomas, makes drive, brings the ball to the left hand and

layups

5sop5-0.28m

Cobe organises the game, center screens, cobe makes drive by taking Duncan with him, who was

arriving for help, Duncan was slow!

5uop1-0.01m

Transition Cobe, screen Walton, Shoot Cobe but without success (imbalanced shoot)

5uop2-o

Cobe posts, he receives the ball in a bad pass, he manages to keep it inside the field -center rolls- he

tries to gives him the ball without success (bad estimate)

5uop3,0.27"

Cobe makes crossed moves in front of Thomas, manages to find space for a jump shoot but no

success

5uop4-0.18

Cobe shoots 3point wanting to catch the opponent by surprise without success

5uop5- 0.2

Cobe makes drive and finds Odom in his feet, taking him by surprise, wrong choice, wrong pass of

the ball

5dm1-0.28m

Parker makes layup while Cobe watches - he cant do anything because he plays man to man and

cant leave his watch mate

5dm2-0.1

Parker shoots , Duncan takes rebound and Cobe watches...

5dm5-0.2m-Parket spots up for shoot while Cobe just watches him

No take the win you have to win 'ball possession' first, the more you have this the more the

possibility to attain your winning goals grow. If we analyze the rebound statistics of a team and

compare them with game lose/win results, its proven that a team with not good rebound record will

win but with greater difficulty.

When a coach is on the stage of building a team he takes care to first have a strong defense

normally AND also, to 'keep the ball'' among his players. Rebound is crucial. But when all that is

secured then the team suddenly gets more shoots and eventually better scoring record (which leads

sometimes to win).

Now, finding and obtaining players whose specialty would be exactly that, rebound, is a difficult

task for the coach/manager. The player should be as tall as possible and jump agility, and possibly it

helps if he can be a genius. I mean the 'center' position is so crucial ,exactly because of the rebound,

which itself leads to the ball possession which as i said earlier, leads to more scoring opportunity.

The center should then basically be as tall as possible, and as smart as possible...

Imagine Saquil O'Neal if he was only a dumb rebounder? I dont think we would like him so much if

he just did that as many other centers do (in Europe maybe more, where you get very tall monstrous

young guys who dont know basketball much).

I think good centers are always just a few, globally. For me, a classical example of a rebounder who

is a 'master' is Arvidas Sabonis who scored 42 against Greece (i was there) while he was master of

rebounds in that game. This center-scorer is not the dream of a coach who will try to assign specific

system play to his players individually, but i guess, its another issue of a coach's 'philosophy' of the

game. Bottom line is: no ball, no honey.

Good topic. You see a lot of this in youth sports (AAU). Ever body wants a big man because he is

supposed to grab rebounds. My AAU team last year (11 under) played against a 6'2 240 5th grader.

He grabbed every rebound that came off the rim! He would miss 5 layups in a row, but would just

get the rebound back and put it up. As a coach, I tried everything in the book to keep him off the

boards. My players were intimidated at first, we got down early and played ketchup the whole game

& ended up losing only by 8 points. The point is size does matter to some extent especially in

regards to rebounding.

good post! I agree with Rodney that size does come into play to a certain extent but talent is always

undeniable. When you break down certain levels of the game, in Rodney's example size definitely

matters because they'll have an advantage over other kids even with terrible skills. But on the other

hand as Zenon was explaining its great to have size but skills have come along with it in order to be

successful in the league.

I agree with your topic, if you have a posseion use it wisely and dont just give it up. Size also does

matter but they should have good jumping ability which is what you said. Sometimes it will come

down to your big player so they need to be strong and smart for instants:

- Rebounding with out giving off a cheap free

- Post

- Give and go

- Easy put backs

John Paxson

I took a small research on John Paxson's gm activity in the recent years (Chicago Bulls), wondering

how he and his team cannot take the championship for ten years.

Derrick Rose is a very good player, athletic, scorer, young in age, full of appetite for work. If

Paxson manages not to press hard on him ,he will help the team from year 1. Any way, we talk

about NO1 draft. Sonny Weems is a very good investment for Paxson and Bulls. A player with 15

points in 31.4 minutes in NCAA is ready to offer and perhaps in 3 points but with bit of work and a

lot of self esteem he can be even better. This choice by Paxson maybe proves better than Rose.

Omar Asik, another chosen player, is a bet in my opinion. Paxson hopes to make even with the loss

and bad estimate of Pau Gassol last year. I guess he has high hopes on Omar. The question is how

much will the inexperienced Turk stand the pressure and the comparison with Gassol.

Another choise of Paxson is Gordon, a player with 18,6 points in 31,8 minutes per game. Of course

he is one of the experienced scorers for the team, Paxson loves this players and he has a good

reason to (good scorer, hard worker, good personality) but the disappointing last years play offs

(terminated by Washington Wizzards), needed a 'victim' and the responsibility fell on Gordon (or

this is how the player feels anyway). Thats why he refused the 58 million for 6 years and he

accepted the 6 for 1 year. Paxson believes that this way he will have a Gordon that works his best in

every game to make his next contract better and to prove he deserves more than 58 for 6 years.

Excellent moves are the contracts with Nichols and Deng. Deng is very good scorer, he helped a lot

last year while Nichols with a bit more trust on him by the coach may prove gold.

Also, Paxson got 3 college ones, Elton Brown, Roger Powel and Darious Washington, i think a real

lottery though... With cheap money, Paxson and his team hope to make something good and raise

the teams overall value. I think these players have a lot of incentive and normally they will at least

work hard.

One last note, Curry didnt have enough opportunities (probably due to bad discipline) last year, he

was given over to Iowa Energy , he didnt satisfy Paxson, then he found himself in Europe (France)

where he played good game (he must have had his reasons to).

John Paxson was looking like a genius until last year. I love the pick with Rose and not to mention

I'm a fan of teams drafting local but legit talent (a la LeBron James & Josh Smith). They traded

Sonny Weems to Denver though during the draft which is good because they have a glut guards out

there in Chicago. I like Darius Washington of the invitees but he will definitely not stick with

Gordon, Rose, Hinrich, Hughes, and Sefolosha in the back court. I wonder why San Antonio didn't

invite him? They raved about him last year. But I agree with you on JamesOn Curry he's a legit

NBA role player but Paxson doesn't tolerate foolishness (I wonder what that says about Noah). But

with all the guards in Chicago he's definitely not better than any of them. He's a good GM but will

see if he can cook up some trades to make this team better (assuming their goal is to make the

playoffs). Good post!

8-Final Paper – Zeno Basketball GM Scouting

Part 1

Interview

Kostis Mitropoulos

Team: Vari Basketball team club, Greece (3 division)

Job: Training Coach

What are your daily tasks?

Train 15 year olds for the Greek youth club championship. Supervise physical exercise in the gym

and

basketball technique together.

How you became a coach in this team?

I studied in TEFAA (Gymnastic Academy of Athens) many years ago and taught in public

schooling, but

basketball was my afternoon teaching in private clubs, from the beginning, I started with small kids

in my

local living area as employee couch part time, then we made a good team and i dropped my public

school

job to become a basketball couch full time.

What are your goals for the future of Haraugiakos?

We do well up to semifinals most of the time so our goal is to go higher, and take the cup but we

know its

not something we can plan easily, I intend to work with the same players up to that point but most

of them

grow 3 years old by the time and leave this team and basketball so I must constantly find 14 year

old who

already have high skill level, many of them do but few of them are able to work in the sport with a

professional mind, as a pro athlete would, so my job is also to advise them and their parents what to

eat,

to have discipline and in general focus on their athletic aspiration.

Part 2

Evaluate an NBA Team

The team I research by looking at player statistics, is Sacramento Kings. A very interesting small-

medium

team of NBA who gives opportunities to young players and hopes to success this year. My thinking

is to

build a team with 3,4 experienced players, scorer, 2-3 good drafts and many youth from colleges,

plus 1-2

leaders of the team. Experience, scoring, good defense, team play, positive characters (psychology),

and

hard work, is what i think a good General Manager looks for, in order to bring success to his club.

The

marrying of these i hope to do and be a good 'best man'. Note: I left Bibby out because he left in

mid-year.

Head Coach: Reggie Theus

General Manager: Geoff Petrie

Kevin Martin (age: 25)

A good player born for scoring, at a good age. With more experience he is ready to leader the team

and

raise Sacramento’s aims. His salary is good for the team and he is going to work to raise it, it

depends

from him solely to do that.

Ron Artest (age: 28)

Good scorer, with experience but his stats show that he isn’t like that due time. His salary is too big

for his

contribution but i guess if a player feels he has the higher salary possible, he plays better out of

satisfaction that the team values him.

Brad Miller (age 32)

A useful tallman, experienced, excellent efficiency statistics, but it would be better if he could

improve

even more. Coach trusts him and he just have to play more, there is still room for improvement, His

salary

is i believe too high for this player but in our era you can find enter me the abilities and experience

of

Miller easily anyway...

Beno Udrih (age 26)

Very useful point guard, good assist specialist, team play based but not so much self-reliant. He

should

already have it if i can judge from the time his coach gives him to play. Salary is under new contract

which

is good for this players profile, his contribution to the team and his age.

John Salmon (age 28)

Experienced good played, helping with scoring always AND defense, but nothing else. Nothing.

Salary is

too high for his (new) contract.

Francisco Garcia (age 26)

Excellent players, with potential to be a leader and this year for sure he will get more time from

coach. His

salary is ok, not as much as he could get, seems like the team has made a good deal for her part with

this

contract. The player of of course can raise his salary in the future.

Mikki Moore (age 32)

Very strong player, good in defense but he could be faster and with more self-belief. His salary is

too

good and the manager should be congratulated for this contract I think.

Shelden Williams (age 24)

Replacing center, which is needed always. With more playing time he can do more I think. He is at

best

age anyway. Salary is too good already.

Quincy Douby (age 24)

Young able player to show more zeal in defence, he can get more playing time still and show more

of

what he got. His salary is a good deal for the team's economy.

(If i was manager i would waive him and I would get Nick Calathes.)

Spencer Hawes (age 20)

Very young but good center who waits the opportunity to prove more his value, thats why he

refused to

go to summer camp (last year he had knee injury). This year he wants to play. His salary is

satisfactory

for certain from player side.

Anthony Johnson (age 34)

Helping point guard, nothing more really. Salary is too high. (I would waive Johnson and get TY

Lawson,

a younger player with better efficiency)

Dahntay Jones (age 27)

Played too few minutes for a 27 old player. Salary good from the players perspective only. (from

drafts it

would be good to get Tyler Smith from Tennessee, excellent scorer, strong built and self trust,

maybe the

new leader)

Shareef Abdul Rahim (age 31)

A good but unlucky power forwards, last years he played only 6 games and showed quite a lot. His

salary

is too good for him but being strong excuse it. (i would waive him and get Gyno Pomare from San

Diego,

a strong and ambitious boy with much potential)

Justin Williams (age 34)

A center in good age with 5,4 min is maybe better to change environment. Salary is very good

(proposition: waive Williams and get Tyler Dierkers from Miami Hawks college. Great promising

kid if he

works hard is all areas and positions of field)

Kenny Thomas (age 31)

Not so good statistics for a player that has great promise. His salary is huge for what he offers to the

team. Probably too much value was placed on this defensive capabilities. I expect a lot from his this

year

(last year he played few games cause of injury but i would like a more experienced power forward

in the

team)

Darryl Watkins (age 23)

A new center with great potential, if he has enough opportunity. It deserves for him to be part of the

chess

game. His salary is clearly a college level salary and its up to the player to get more.

Orien Green (age 26)

Small percentages in statistics but he didn’t have enough playing time and few games so he needs to

be

given more time. His salary is ok for what he offers to the team. (my thinking would be to waive

him and

get Mike Taylor, 14,4 points in 39 games from Iowa)

Lorenzen Wright (age 32)

Very promising center who didnt give as much as expected. His salary is very good for the

experienced

Wright. (i would waive him and get Kostas Koufos from Ohio to get better defense)

Trade in RealGm

Give Quincy Duby, Spencer Hawes for Steve Blake from Portland , 2 young men without good

efficiency

to get one strong point guard who costs 4.250.000 $(the 2 exchange players cost together 3.616.810

$)

To finish, i must say my philosophy in the above team making. I think i made a team based on

experience

more than anything else and scoring statistics. These two where my main concern in choosing who

to

keep who to waive.

THE FINAL SCOUTING REPORT PRODUCT

After you have scouted your opponent, the scouting coach should file a report

on the team and relay it to you and your entire staff. At this time, you should

go over your strategy and game plan for that opponent. You might also give

these reports to your team to study if you feel it is beneficial.
