My Ingredients~Van Shea Sedita~
UX Design & Creative Direction
@vanshea #myingredients
Since 1999, I've worked with some very thorough, very creative and highly skilled
programmers
Sometimes we've seen things differently
In the past..I've focused too often on making beautiful things
In my experience, developers seem to focus on making interesting things
beautiful vs. interesting?
Memorable and delightful experiences are both beautiful & interesting
"The practice of creating engaging, efficient user experiences is called
user centered design."~Jesse James Garrett,
"The Elements of User Experience Design"
$I am always trying to save businesses
and myself..
The 4 "ingredients" I use to design:
Newsprint and marker sketch
Very Very.. VeryBasic Style Guide
4. Chrome's Inspect Element tool
Team Collaboration: Responsive Decisions
99% of the beautiful & interesting things I've helped design have not been
concepted by me alone
Many times, a developer has succeeded in advancing the UX through
suggesting improvements to user flows, copywriting or visual design
Team Collaboration: SignUp Process
"Usually my input comes in normalization and dealing with dynamic content.
So consistent headers/footers/nav, regular placement of buttons, etc.
Stuff that becomes obvious when you're coding something but might not be so clear in pure design.
The dynamic content thing is something every designer seems to struggle with..."
Justin Fargione, CTO Get Maid
As the user advocate, my work can't be precious and should always stay open
to discussion and change.
