Analog technology is taking a back seat, and digital technology is slowly taking over. So the question from

DRE to you is: Why wouldn’t you consider shifting from analog to IP? Technology is constantly moving

forward and through the use of HD cameras, IP-based systems bring the inherent advantages of network

storage to video surveillance as well as the overall storage needs of your business.

Technological advances aren’t slowing down, and that’s why we think now is the perfect time for companies

to break out of the legacy analog camera mold… Here are seven reasons why our customers agree.

Analog = Outdate

Yes, high definition IP cameras and NVRs are a bit on the pricey side, but let’s remember a single IP camera

can take the place of three or four comparable analog cameras, thanks to increased coverage. NVRs allow

more camera connections than you could even think of connecting to a DVR. NVRs also use advanced hard

drives designed for professional use with a backup construction commonly known as RAID (redundant

array of independent disks) spreading data across multiple HDDs. At DRE we work hard to make sure your

data is safe – if one drive fails, rest assured the files have already been backed up to another.

Many companies already have the analog system in place, and we want to help you maximize the life of

your existing investment. Manufacturers have created solutions such as encoders to support hybrid envi-

ronments. As analog/DVR components start to fail, users start to switch out parts one at a time, slowly

upgrading to an IP camera and NVR installation – a logical next step. We can install network IP cameras to

your existing analog system, allowing your company to migrate to today’s HD standard over time.

Cost Effective & Refined Operation

As mentioned above, the initial IP endeavor can be costly – you need the camera, proper backup from the

network system and the correct UTP cables – all higher technology and all with a higher price tag. But, it is

a major misconception that this system is excessively overpriced. Prices of IP cameras have actually been

dropping and with that, HD cameras are bringing significantly improved capabilities. A DVR may be cheap-

er initially than an NVR, but it can not only manage the video surveillance requirements of a company, it can

also operate as the foundation for the overall storage and data management needs of a workgroup, remote

location or standalone business.

Image Quality Amplified

Think about your favorite criminal justice show. Okay, now picture the scene where the detectives are

analyzing crucial video footage and one says, “Stop! That guy - can we get a close-up?” So they enhance the

image, and it goes from a blurry distortion to crystal clear and, BOOM, we have our suspect. Unfortunately,

that is just television, folks; you wouldn’t get near a crystal clear image from the analog footage. Luckily,

high definition IP security cameras are becoming more and more affordable in the market. In an IP camera

universe, there is better resolution, expanded surveillance environments and highly detailed images. And

after all, doesn’t everything look better in HD – including your own video surveillance security files?

Old Faithful

NAS-based, IP video surveillance systems have proven to be faster, more reliable and every bit as durable as

the older DVR and analog camera systems. Taking into account all of the inherent advantages of NVRs with

RAID data management and professional hard drives, letting us install your new NVRs combined with IP

cameras makes us your best-kept surveillance secret.

Manageability

Another advantage of the IP-based video surveillance is the ability to access and view video files from any

location via mobile apps and remote clouds. And what about video analytics, you ask? Unlike CCTV and

the necessary human monitoring needed to catch events in real time, with IP cameras you can set your net-

work to mark events that occur in the cameras’ field of vision, telling you exactly when something unusual

happened. How effective!

Regulatory Compliance

Tighter regulations have been imposed on a variety of industries due to security concerns and a higher

compliance environment globally. Depending on an industry’s regulatory standards, a company could face

substantial surveillance video retention demands. This can be both costly and dangerous with yesterday’s

onsite analog approach to video surveillance. Let DRE give you peace of mind; we can help you utilize local

and remote network storage to meet all your industry’s retention requirement needs.

The Evolution: Proficiency

As technology progresses so do video surveillance elements, enabled by private cloud, remote video apps

and analytics to enhance solutions. IP cameras offer a diverse range of functions from basic to advanced an-

alytics through a variety of ways to enhance your business. In addition, low-cost storage options like hosted

video make network video a more affordable option than your typical location-based analog solutions.

Analog surveillance technology is becoming a thing of the past. Now is the time to find your way into the

IP-based security system universe. This move will help optimize your business efficiency, reduce costs and

exceed your goals.

Whether you are looking to take the plunge with IP cameras and NVRs or slowly making your way out of the

analog era piece by piece, rest assured DRE can assist you with all your video surveillance, low voltage and

power needs – just contact DRE at 714.279.9590 or email us at [email protected].
