Order of Service

Prelude

Lighting of the Christ Candle

Gathering Hymn: “Wonderful Merciful Saviour”

1. Wonderful, merciful Saviour, precious Redeemer and Friend;

who would have thought that a Lamb could rescue the souls of men?

Oh, You rescue the souls of men.

2. Counselor, Comforter, Keeper, Spirit we long to embrace; You offer

hope when our hearts have hopelessly lost the way; oh, we hopelessly

lost the way.

Chorus

You are the One that we praise, You are the One we adore, You give the

healing and grace our hearts always hunger for; oh, our hearts always

hunger for.

3. Almighty, infinite Father, faithfully loving Your own; here in our

weakness You find us falling before Your throne; oh, we’re falling

before Your throne.

Chorus

Gathering of the Community

May the peace of Christ be with you and also with you.

May the peace of Christ be with you in all you do.

Sharing of the Peace of Christ

Prayer of Approach & The Lord’s Prayer – Rev. Allan Brouwer

Lords’ Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we

forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not in temptation, but

deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory

forever and ever. Amen.

Responsive Reading: Isaiah 61 – Brian Hawkins

Praise: “There’s a Redeemer”

1. There is a redeemer, Jesus, God’s own Son, precious Lamb of God,

Messiah, Holy One.

Chorus

Thank you, O my Father, for giving us your Son, and leaving your Spirit

till your work on earth is done.

2. Jesus my Redeemer, name above all names, precious Lamb of God,

Messiah, oh for sinners slain.

Chorus

3. When I stand in glory, I will see his face, and there I’ll serve my King

forever in that holy place.

Chorus x 2

Time with the Children – Rev. Allan Brouwer

Scripture: Genesis 11: 1-9, Acts 2: 1-21 - Becky Tunks

Hymn: “Holy Spirit, living breath of God”

1. Holy spirit, living breath of God, breathe new life into my willing soul.

Bring the presence of the risen Lord, to renew my heart and make me

whole. Cause your Word to come alive in me; give me faith for what I

cannot see; give me passion for your purity; Holy Spirit breathe new

life in me.

2. Holy Spirit, come abide within, may your joy be seen in all I do. Love

enough to cover every sin, in each thought and deed and attitude.

Kindness to the greatest and the least, gentleness that sows the path

of peace. Turn my striving into works of grace; Breath of God, show

Christ in all I do.

3. Holy Spirit, from creation’s birth, giving life to all the God has made,

show your power once again on earth, cause your church to hunger

for your ways. Let the fragrance of our prayers arise; lead us on the

road of sacrifice, that in unity the face of Christ may be clear for all

the world to see.

Sermon: “Confusion to Connection”– Rev. Allan Brouwer

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Offering of our Gifts

Dedication of Offering

Closing Hymn: “Come thou almighty King”

1. Come, thou almighty King: help us Thy name to sing; help us to

praise. Father, all glorious, o’er all victorious, come and reign over us,

ancient of days.

2. Come, thou incarnate word; gird on Thy mighty sword; our prayer

attend: come, and Thy people bless, and give Thy word success; Spirit

of holiness, on us descend.

3. Come, holy comforter; Thy sacred witness bear in this glad hour!

Thou who almighty art, now rule in every heart; and ne’er from us

depart, Spirit of power.

4. To the great One in Three eternal praises be hence evermore!

His sovereign majesty may we in glory see, and to eternity love and

adore.

Benediction – Rev. Allan Brouwer

“Go Now In Peace”

Go now in peace. Never be afraid.

God will go with you each hour of ev’ry day.

Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true.

Know He will guide you in all you do.

Go now in love, and show you believe.

Reach out to others so all the world can see.

God will be there watching from above.

Go now in peace, in faith, and in love.

Amen, Amen, Amen.

Postlude

Words for the Weak

You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does. 1 Peter 5: 10-11 The Message
