Greetings!
You are probably aware that our year six
children were in Canberra last week for their
three-day excursion.
Being a travelling companion with them was a
very enjoyable experience. The children were
delightful and fun to be with. I had a number of
people from various venues compliment the
school on the positive behaviour of our
students. Congratulations and thank you boys
and girls.
Thank you to the year six teachers and parent
helpers who guided the children and helped
keep them safe. Thank you mums and dads for
entrusting your children to our care.
On Thursday night a number of our students will
be representing our school as part of the
Diocesan Schools Combined Band in the
Captivate Showcase (two boys were also
present last Tuesday night). This is the first time
we have had students take part in the band
program. Congratulations girls and boys. Thank
you to the parents who have assisted with
transport. Thank you also to the music teachers;
Ms. Thomas and Mr. Holden.
Best wishes to our Stage 2 children who are
participating in the soccer days next week. Have
fun.
Our condolences to Mr. Bamford and his family
on the loss of his much loved dad.
I look forward to seeing you at the parent
teacher interviews next week.
Best wishes,
John Spradbrow

MINI VINNIES
The OLOR Mini Vinnie’s Committee wants to make a difference in
our community and this winter we would like to invite students
from Year4, 5 & 6 to attend a Mini Vinnie’s Education Night to
be held on Thursday night June 26th
2014 from 6pm-9pm.
The Mini Vinnie’s Education Night hopes to provide unique
insights to students into the impact of homelessness – a problem
often overlooked and misunderstood by the wider community.
If you would like for your child (Year 4, 5 & 6) to take part in the
Mini Vinnie’s Education Evening could you please complete the
permission slip attached to the newsletter as soon as possible.
Thank you
LIBRARY LOOK
As we are approaching the end of the term,
please try to send back any books the children are finished
reading. As long as they have returned all of their books, the
children will be able to borrow an extra book for the
holidays next week. In particular, please make sure all home
readers are returned. We have just spent over $900 to
replace lost readers, to ensure all the sets are complete and
able to be used.
The Premier’s Reading challenge logon page has been
changed. It now directs you straight to the DET Portal,
where you should hopefully be able to use your existing
login and it will take you into the PRC website. There
apparently is an issue with some non-government student
logins not working and they are working on fixing this.
Thank you for all of the plastic bags that have been sent in
over the past couple of weeks.
Mrs Julie Walter – Teacher Librarian
Mrs Tracy Hunt – Library Assistant
