Na Fianna’s Dubs
Best of luck to Dublin’s Senior Hurlers including Joey Boland and Shane Barrett in Sunday’s
NHL Div 1A opener against Tipperary In Parnell Park on Sunday at 2pm.
Good luck also to Eimear Nolan and Dublin Minor ladies footballers as they begin the
defence of their Leinster crown tomorrow (Sat 14th) with an opening home tie against
Westmeath in Chanel at 2pm.
Scoil Chaitríona Avenue
Gas Networks Ireland will be doing works on the avenue into Scoil Chaitriona, this coming
week during the midterm. This will involve digging up the footpath to put in a new gas line to
the school. As a result, Club members are advised that the avenue is not available from
Monday to Friday next week.
Additionally, on an ongoing basis, cars are parking on the grass verge on the avenue into
the school. This is damaging the grass and also makes it difficult for cars to get through.
Members are asked not to park there. Your cooperation in this matter would be appreciated.
Weekend ActionOur U-21B footballers are in Championship final tomorrow, Saturday, in Chanel at 12.30
against Naomh Mearnóg. Busy day of fixtures this Sunday with adult cup action. Starting
with Inter footballers at 10am in Mobhi Road against Ballyboughal in Loving Cup. Later at 12
in Collinstown, our Junior A footballers host Ballyboden in Conlon Cup and our AFL8 team
travel to Ballyboughal for Murphy Cup fixture. Our Junior hurlers are also in competition at
2.30pm in Mobhi Road hosting Erin Go Bráth in Millar Shield. Also on Sunday at 11am our
three Minor football teams are away in league. A’s play Cuala in Shankill, B’s travel to
Sancta Maria to play Ballyboden and C’s play Good Counsel in Galtymore Road. Best of
luck to all teams and all support welcome. Full fixture list on website.

2001 Girls Pre-Season Boxing
As part of their pre-season build up, our 2001 Girls football panel (pictured above) completed
5 weeks of boxing training with Paul Quinn, who is a Development Officer with the Irish
Amateur Boxing Association. It was something new and completely different for the girls to
try. They absolutely loved it and it was a brilliant way of getting them fit, teaching them how
to use their natural body strength as well as improving their agility and footwork. Well done
girls.

2015 Sports Prediction Quiz
Following on from the success of last year’s Sports Prediction Quiz and the great sense of
fun and craic it created, the organisers have got together to agree the format for the 2015
version which will include an even bigger and better range of prizes. The forms have now
been printed and are available in the Club bar, throughout the Club tomorrow and from team
mentors next week.
Members should note that the closing date for receipt of completed forms is 8th March.

Facilities Update
Well done to the Facilities Committee on their ongoing work around the Club.
Their most recent undertaking has been the provision of floodlights in the outdoor handball
alley and sincere thanks are due to all involved. Dave Buckley and Charlie O’Reilly did wiring
for and erected flood lights into the outdoor alley. Martin O’Leary and Jim Heffernan erected
scaffolding for this project. Switch and times are in the equipment room. Good additional
light will help teams/training groups to warm up here prior to moving onto all-weather pitches
for training.
Ongoing work continues in Collinstown as part of the clearance project. The trees have been
cut and members are reminded that timber is available for removal. See photo below of one
Club member’s stock of firewood from Collinstown.
Two tracked machines have been on site in Collinstown for 4 days this week. All trimmings
have been moved to boundary hedges. Roots and briars have been dug up and removed to
same areas. Old grass scraws have been pared back and initial levelling process has begun.
The place looks great and members are invited to go up for a look and a walk through.
Facilities estimate that there is capacity, on the basis of the good quality soil that is up there,
to develop a full sized adult training pitch and juvenile training cross pitches. Thanks to
everyone for support to date and ongoing volunteer support is requested as we go about
ploughing, tilling, levelling and seeding. Members’ support of the various upcoming
fundraising activities will help to fund these and other planned projects.

Christmas Market Review
As you know Na Fianna has operated a Christmas market for the past two years. The
organisers are now looking for your feedback on all aspects of this event that will feed into
the planning process.
The feedback being sought from the Club membership should cover both 2013 and 2014
and should include what in your opinion worked well and what didn’t. Suggestions around
how things could be done differently or even new ideas would also be appreciated. All
observations will be accepted and evaluated and will be dealt with in strictest confidence.
Comments can be emailed to [email protected]
Scoil Rince Mobhí
Scoil Rince Mobhí, known to many Club members and includes Club members also, will hold
