*To be eligible for a NRC family or senior couple membership the primary member and spouse must be legally married as recognized by the State of Idaho. In addition, only children considered legal dependents ages 18 and under may be included on a family membership. Provisions may be made to place dependent children ages 19 through 21 on a family membership. See the NRC Membership Eligibility policy for details. The NRC may ask for proof of legal dependency or a marriage certificate from anyone registering for a family or senior couple membership.

The Nampa Recreation Center is a 140,000 square foot indoor facility offering many recreation amenities to the public. Our mission is to provide quality programs and services, be responsive to the citizens, and play an active role in making Nampa a healthy community.

To ensure the safety of our members and visitors, the Nampa Recreation Center will enforce all policies and procedures. For a complete list and description of policies, please refer to our website at www.nampareccenter.org or pick up a copy at the Rec Center Front Desk. Specific guidelines are available in each department of the facility.

Register for Recreation ProgramsRegister for Nampa Parks and Recreation Department programs, classes, and sports leagues online at nampaparksandrecreation.org or in person at the Nampa Rec Center, Monday-Friday between 8am-7pm. Mayor’s Golf TournamentThe City of Nampa Mayor’s Golf Tournament was established to provide a fun event while giving opportunity to give back to youth golfers in Nampa. Each year this event draws people from all over the treasure valley to play golf and give to a great cause. All proceeds benefit college scholarships for youth golfers in Nampa and junior golf at Centennial and Ridgecrest Golf Courses. Youth Activity Center (YAC)Hey kids, in your breaks between swimming and basketball, check out the Youth Activity Center or “YAC” at the Nampa Rec Center. Designed for 6 to 12 year olds to hang out with their peers and engage in fun games in a supervised environment. The YAC features X-Box Kinect, board games, foosball, air hockey, craft projects and other fun activities. NRC Play CenterSupervised childcare while you workout! Available on a first come, first-served basis, the NRC Play Center provides supervised childcare for children 5 and under by Pediatric CPR and First Aid certified staff. Play Center services are for parents or legal guardians while present in the Rec Center.Monday-Saturday: 8:45am-1:30pm Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 4-8:15pmTuesday & Thursday: 4-9:15pm$2.50 per child/hour (2hr limit/day)Punch Passes are available.

NRC PreschoolProviding your child with a variety of positive experiences to help develop self-esteem and prepare them for kindergarten. Teacher bio can be found on our website on the “Staff Directory” page.

Registration for 2015-16 school year will begin May 1st at 8am.

TuitionMonthly tuition is due by the 1st of each month. A late fee will be assessed for payments received after the 10th of the month. Your child will be dropped from the class if your account reaches 2 months outstanding.

Kids in Action Day Camp-(KIA)The Nampa Rec Center, Kids in Action day camp program is a great way to keep your kids active when school is out. Kids in Action gets your kids moving in a supervised, safe environment. Kindergarten through fifth graders stay actively engaged before and after school, or full day care is available too! Transportation is included to and from any Nampa public school with additional $2 charge. No commitment, you only pay for the days your child attends and credits are issued when your plans change if you call by 12:30pm. A $5 late fee will be charged if your child has not been paid by the end of attendance.

The Nampa Rec Center offers a broad spectrum of classes and programs to meet all fitness interests and levels. Classes and programs range from cardio and strength training to fitness assessments and body compositions.

Group & Aquatic Fitness ClassesTry one of our Group or Aquatic Fitness classes for a motivating and comprehensive workout. Classes are offered at no additional cost for members and day pass users.

Fitness AssessmentGet a baseline evaluation of your current fitness level to set goals or check your progress. Assessments measure blood pressure, heart-rate, body weight, body composition, lower back/hamstring flexibility, bicep strength, cardiovascular endurance and body age. For best results, do not use nicotine, drink caffeine or exercise 2-3 hours prior to the appointment. Member Free, Non-Member $36

Nutrition ConceptsA key to achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle includes good nutrition. Meet with a trainer to help you learn more about fueling for exercise, the food groups, understanding labels, tips on filling a healthy plate and where to find additional reliable nutrition information. Body Composition Our trainers will determine the amount of fat and muscle that makes up your weight using a 3-site caliper test or bioelectrical impedance test. Member Free, Non-Member $8

Power Plate®The Power Plate® oscillating in all three planes creates instability and vibration in the body. This vibration activates muscle contractions between 25-50 times per second, involving 95% of the muscle fiber. Due to the increase of muscle contractions this type of training can generate more force with ease, enhancing overall performance, improving circulation, reducing soreness, and increasing muscle strength, flexibility and bone density. Weight Room Age PolicyThe weight room is reserved for individuals 15 years and older. Youth 13 and 14 years old may obtain weight room privileges by completing the NRC’s Youth Strength Training Course. The NRC offers the ZONE for 10-14 years olds and functional training under certain parameters for those as young as 6 years old. Each youth participant must complete an orientation with a trainer and sign a “Youth Training Pledge and Consent” form along with their parent before engaging in training.

The ZONE(Youth Fitness Center)The ZONE features strength training equipment specifically engineered for youth ages 10-14. Stop by or call the weight room for more information or to schedule an orientation.Member Free, Non-Member $15

Youth Strength Training CourseBy successfully completing this 11-hour course, youth ages 13 and 14 years will be granted use of the weight room. Welcome to the Wall!Whether you are new to the exciting world of rock climbing or a seasoned pro, the Rec Center rock walls have something for everyone. Come climb with us; you’ll have fun and get fit at the same time.

Bouldering Climbing WallThe wall includes nearly 1400 square feet of climbing surface and offers expanded bouldering climbing for all ability levels. The bouldering wall is for all ages and is open during normal Rec Center hours. It is located in the weight room area, next to the racquetball courts.Open Climbing Hours

Rock Climbing Guidelines(Top Rope)lClimbers assume full responsibility for their actions while in the rock wall area.

lClimbers younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times while in the climbing area.

lClimbers must provide their own belayer; no belayers under 14 years.

lLead climbers must provide their own rope.

Rock Climbing Guidelines(Bouldering)lHave fun, but no horseplay!

lLeave space between you and others. Do not climb or stand under other climbers.

lClimb Down. Do not intentionally fall or jump off wall.

lClimb only as high as the hand-holds. Do not climb over the top or behind the wall.

lChildren under 6 years old must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

lShoes are required. No bare feet or shoes with marking soles. Climbing shoes can be rented at the front desk.

lChalk balls are permitted, but no loose chalk.

lLockers are available for personal items. No bags or other items can be kept in the bouldering area or weight room.

lStay safe! Please report any misuse or problems to the NRC staff immediately.

lYour safety is important. Please climb within your skill level.

NRC PoolsThe Nampa Rec Center houses five swimming pools for your exercise and recreational enjoyment. Programs consist of swimming lessons, aquatic safety classes, water aerobics and kayaking. Enjoy access to the Lap Pool, Rec Pool, Deep Pool, and Kids Pool. Open swim times will offer recreational play in pools of different sizes and temperatures. Pools may have limited availability, ask lifeguards for more info.

Open KayakingThe Nampa Recreation Center Lap Pool will be available on Wednesdays from 7:00-9:45pm for open kayaking. Due to limited space, reservations are recommended. Call the Front Desk to reserve your spot. Bring your own kayak or rent one for $2 an hour. An adult must accompany children 12 and under

Red Cross Lifeguard TrainingThis course is designed for experienced swimmers ages 15 and older that want to become Red Cross Lifeguards. Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications are awarded upon successful completion of the course. Course prerequisites are: 300 yard swim using front crawl and breaststroke, retrieval of a 10 pound brick from 7ft of water and two minutes of treading water with no hands. If you are unsure whether you can complete the prerequisites, sign up for a skills evaluation. CPR/AED & First Aid Class Course is designed to teach participants to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. Adaptive Swim Lessons Our Adaptive Swim Lesson Program is for children and adults with special needs that may not be met through traditional swim lessons. The goal of this program is to provide students with a structured aquatic experience designed to make them feel comfortable and safe while swimming. If interested, fill out an Adaptive Lesson Request form, available on the “Programs” page on our website or at the NRC program desk.

American Red Cross Swimming LessonsNRC swimming lessons meet American Red Cross curriculum standards and all instructors are certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. To view class descriptions, visit the “Aquatics” page on our website or stop by the Rec Center.

Which Class?lEach child must pass a particular level and granted a Red Cross Card before proceeding to the next level.

lAll age requirements must be followed unless instructor’s approval has been granted.lIt is not uncommon for a child to stay in a particular level for several sessions before successful completion.lClasses missed for vacation, injury, sickness or any other reason cannot be made up and are non-refundable.

Parks & Rec Facility RentalsAre you planning a wedding, family gathering, company party, special event or picnic? The Nampa Parks and Recreation Department is here to help! We invite you to reserve one of the many multi-purpose facilities the department offers.

Park FacilitiesReservations for park facilities are taken up to one year in advance on a first come, first-served basis and receive priority over drop-in groups. Rates are based on an 11am-4pm or 4:30pm-Dark time-block and include power & dumpster fees (Rose Garden Shelter and Amphitheater time-blocks are 9am-3pm or 4pm-Dark).
