I am writing in support of Nancy Hanna. Ms. Hanna was initially hired at the start of the

2008-2009 school year as a supply teacher at Philopateer Christian College. Philopateer

Christian College is a private school in Mississauga whose K-12 students study the Ontario

curriculum. At all times Ms. Hanna demonstrated a caring, Christian attitude with the students,

strong classroom management and thorough attention to following the classroom teacher’s daily

plan. On numerous occasions, Ms. Hanna was asked to support the grade one class in the area of

Language Arts due to the interest and knowledge she displayed in this area. Ms. Hanna’s

exemplary work resulted in her being asked to teach the grade one class the following September

2009 and she completed the school year.

Ms. Hanna is a highly motivated individual who brings enthusiasm, creativity and

dedication to her role as teacher and colleague. She demonstrates resourcefulness in the selection

of materials she uses with her students and diligently plans her lessons, activities and

assessments to best meet their learning needs. Ms. Hanna has excellent rapport with her

students, is well-liked by them and regularly communicates with parents. She demonstrates a

keen awareness of the diversity of cultures represented in her class, addresses everyone in a

respectful manner, and promotes the same regard with her students. She handles discipline issues

with firmness and sensitivity.

Ms. Hanna has been a valuable team member, working closely with her grade partner as

well as with other teachers in the primary division and the school to plan and carry out daily

lessons as well as special events such as the Christmas and Spring concerts.

I have found Ms. Hanna to be highly competent in her attitude, performance and skills as

a teacher. I am confident she will be an asset to any school environment. For further

Letter of Recommendation – for Nancy Hanna December 9, 2011 To Whom It May Concern: Nancy has taught at Philopateer Christian College for two years starting in September, 2009. She has taught full-time in the primary department, teaching the grade one class. It is with pleasure that I offer a letter of recommendation for Nancy. I know Nancy in my capacity of Vice-Principal of the Elementary School. Therefore, I supervised her and have had ample opportunity to observe her both formally in the classroom and informally as she performed her duties around the school. Nancy is an amiable and dedicated teacher who is well-liked by students and fellow teachers alike. She is well organized and very knowledgeable in teaching the young students. I have had many occasions to observe her in and outside of the classroom as she dealt with students and fellow teachers alike. She is always professional and diligent in performing all of her duties. She is a quiet and patient person, and yet, she maintains good control of her students. Nancy shows good regard and care for the well-being of those in her care. Nancy shows a genuine interest in the academic growth of her students as well as their overall well-being. She often consults with the administration in regards to problem situations that may involve students or parents. She is open and willing to take advice from others and thereby showed a willingness to learn, grow, and improve in her teaching career. Nancy worked cooperatively with the other Grade One teachers as they planned and implemented the class curriculum. She was involved in organizing and directing several class presentations performed in front of the school. Nancy genuinely enjoys working as a member of a team and is always cooperative and enthusiastic with whatever is happening at school. Nancy is a skilled and committed teacher and so it is with enthusiasm that I recommend her as an elementary teacher.
