The number of bikes reported as stolen has doubled since 2008 Almost 5,000 bikes were reported stolen in Dublin in 2014 1 in 3 bikes stolen nationally in 2014 were stolen in Dublin City Centre Twice as many bikes are stolen in summer than in winter, peak months are July/

August 1 in 3 bikes stolen are taken from residential locations (house garden shed) Over half of bikes stolen from public places are taken between 12 noon and 8pm The average value of a stolen bike is €500, 1 in 10 are worth €1,000 or more Only 10% of bike owners are able to provide their bicycle frame number to Gardaí If stolen can you describe your bicycle- photograph It is a criminal offence to buy a stolen bicycle
