St.John'sCollege,Agra,wasestablishedin1850bytheChurchMissionarySocietyofEnglandthroughtheeffortsoftheAgraC.M.S.Associationwhichcameintobeingin1840.Atitsinception,theCollegeformulateditsowncurriculumandconducteditsownexamination.From1862to1888theCollegeremainedaf�iliatedtoCalcuttaUniversityandlaterupto1927toAllahabadUniversity.In1927withtheformationofAgraUniversity,thentheCollegewasaf�iliatedtotheAgraUniversity.TheCollegehasoneofthemostbeautifulbuildingsinNorthIndia,builtinredsandstoneinIndo-Saracenicarchitecture.ThefoundationstoneoftheCentenaryWingwaslaidbyShriSarvapalliRadhakrishnan,formerPresidentofIndia.In1958anditwasinauguratedbyShriPt.JawaharlalNehru,the�irstPrimeMinisterofIndia,in1959.TheCollegehasverydistinguishedalumni,theforemostofthembeinglateDr.ShankerDayalSharma,theformerPresidentofIndia.
