SEMAPHORE AND FORT GLANVILLE TOURIST RAILWAY
The Semaphore and Fort Glanville Tourist Railway operates daily from 26th December to the end of the January school holidays, and daily during the September and April school holidays. The train also runs every Sunday and public holiday from September to April inclusive. When the forecast temperature is 35 degrees or over the trains will not run.

The National Railway Museum provides affordable family entertainment on two sites, at 76 Lipson Street Port Adelaide and along the foreshore at Semaphore.
Unique in Australia, the Museum displays facets of railway operation from the states and Commonwealth of Australia together with private operators. The difficulties of operation over three different railway gauges is explained using graphics and operational track displays.
Inspect the giant steam engines, walk through elegant carriages and enjoy a train ride. Displays include the Man in Blue and the Adelaide Railway Station Indicator Board and the interactive interpretive tour of the famous Tea and Sugar Train.
Learn how the railways have shaped the nation and trace development in South Australia on the interactive map. See fascinating and rare items from the Museum collection such as Bob the Railway Dog’s collar. Enjoy displays of railway models and toys, and see a model railway in action. Check out the events page on our website to see what’s happening.
The Break of Gauge Shop has a large range of railway books, DVD’s, souvenirs, Thomas the Tank Engine merchandise.
Hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice creams are available at various locations. Visitors are welcome to bring their own refreshments and watch the trains go by from our undercover seating and tables.
Toilets and baby change facilities are both wheelchair and pusher friendly.
The National Railway Museum is more than exhibits. Function and receptionfacilities cater for corporate events and dinners seating up to 150, weddings, social clubs and trade shows. As an added bonus, guests are welcome to wander through the exhibits and displays.
Small celebrations can be held in the Comonwealth Railway dining and lounge cars, catering for up to 48 people
Children’s birthday parties are a special treat in the Cafeteria Car.
