REFLECTIONS – Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time - It is tempting to focus on the affairs of others rather than to have to deal with our own problems. It may even provide us some comfort to think that we could be in worse straights. Being a busybody is not what we are called to as disciples. Our attention should be on the work at hand and caring for our families and neighbors. When we think of others, it should not be with the aim of finding fault but of finding needs that we may help them. What are you “busy” about?

“Teach me your ways, O Lord; and lead me on a level path.” - Psalm 27:11 Reprinted with permission from S.T. Productions.

Nativity Mausoleum Update Our sales campaign is underway for the construc-tion of new mausoleum crypts at Nativity of Our Lady. The new mausoleum is probably 1 year away from completion, therefore, the small num-ber of unsold crypts that we have in current in-ventory will be reserved for temporary placement for caskets of families who have bought in the new mausoleum and are awaiting completion of the new facilities. We wanted to make this infor-mation known so that you can plan accordingly for your family’s burial needs. If you would like to speak to a salesman from the Acme Mausole-um company, please call the church office for their contact information.

2017 CALENDARS We wish to thank our sponsors: Coastal Timbers, Countryside Storage, Larry Delcambre Air Conditioning & Heating, Daspit Supermarket, Soileau’s Pharmacy & Gifts, Armand Construction, Jane’s Seafood & Chinese, Duhon’s Heating & Cooling, Iberia Driving Academy and Linda L. Via-tor, Notary Public, for providing our Church parish with 2017 calendars. Please pick one up on your way out of church. Please limit one per family due to the limited number of calendars.

COME MARINATE IN THE WORD! The Jubilee of the Word Marathon is an extraordinary and unique way to close the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy! Be-ginning on Thursday November 17 at 6:00 AM the Bi-ble will be read publicly cover to cover without pause in the Square of St. Martinville. The Marathon will conclude on Christ the King Sunday at 8:00 PM. Over 200 lectors will be needed for 20 minute intervals. Lectors from parishes from throughout the diocese and others interested in reading are encouraged to signup for a reading slot during the Marathon. All are encour-aged to come listen and Marinate in the Word! For more information or to register as a lector, please con-tact Fr. Champagne at [email protected] or (337) 394-6550.

On behalf of the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, Arch-bishop for the Military Services, USA, and his Auxiliary Bishops, and staff, heartfelt thanks to those who participated in the Collection for the Archdiocese for the Military Ser-vices, USA (AMS). Your prayers and generosity will sup-port the unique ministry to men and women who currently protect this great nation of ours and defend the freedoms we hold dear. You have also helped to provide the sacraments and pastoral care for Catholic veterans who served with dis-tinction and who are cared for in Veterans Administration Medical Centers across the U.S., in Puerto Rico and in Guam.

Our Lady’s Altar Society Our Lady’s Altar Society is having its “Sweet Sale” and Raffle the weekend of November 19th

and 20th after all Masses. Please support this worthwhile endeavor. Money collected is used to take care of the needs of Our Lord’s dwelling place, such as the hosts, altar wine, altar

cloths, towels, oil for the altar candles, & the cleaning supplies used by the Altar Society cleaning crews, etc.

Next week’s collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) needs your help. CCHD was founded to break the cycle of poverty in the United States by funding organizations that help individuals help themselves. With a tradition of improving educa-tion, housing situations, and a community economic de-velopment, CCHD continues to make a positive impact in communities nationwide. Your contribution will de-fend human dignity and reach out to those living on the margins. Please give to the CCHD Collection.
