It’s not always necessary to take long trips in order to discover new exciting places. In our surroundings there are beautiful natural envi-ronments and fascinating remnants from the past. The purpose of this guide is to attract excursions and experiences in nature that are close at hand.
The places are just a selection of outings within walking and biking distance from Broaryd. There’s a lot more to discover!

Swimming area by Örsjön (3)
1. Memorial stoneAlong the road in Bro there’s a memorial stone for Johannes Bengtsson who in the early 1900’s invented the stone and stubble breaker Jätten (The Giant). GPS coordinates: N 57,139782 E 13,244894
2. Danhults kvarnThe current mill in Danhult was built in 1767 and was in use until the early 1900’s.GPS coordinates: N 57,140910 E 13,190466
3. ÖrsjönAt Örsjön’s north shore there’s a popular swimming spot. Don’t forget to buy a fishing permit if you want to try your luck at fishing in the lake.GPS coordinates: N 57,139058 E 13,186556
4. JättastenenOn the road to Påbo is a large boulder. According to legend the boulder called Jättastenen was thrown at Södra Hestra church without reaching all the way.GPS coordinates: N 57,126507 E 13,224926
5. Homestead museumAt Södra Hestra homestead museum there are older buildings from the parish, majestic oaks and a field which is cut every year. Here’s also a copy of the local invention Jätten (The Giant).GPS coordinates: N 57,125517 E 13,234409
6. SundialIn a pasture by the rectory is a sundial made of stone. This was built year 1741 by the rev-erend Samuel Elmgren and is the only one of its kind in the municipality. GPS coordinates: N 57,124562 E 13,236635
7. Älmgrens källaIn Älmgren’s sacrificial fountain it is said that lots of coins have been found. It was formerly believed that the water in sacrificial fountains had the power to heal. GPS coordinates: N 57,120839 E 13,220443
8. Walking pathsThe exercise track and the asphalted route along lake Hestrasjön are nice walking trails. GPS coordinates: N 57,121399 E 13,238863
