Why School Liaison Officers?

FACTS:• Military families move 3 times more frequently than

civilian counterparts (Active Duty)

• Families move an average of every 2.9 years

• Children attend up to 9 different schools by graduation

• Families experience increased stress related to deployment during wartime; extra educational support benefits whole family.

• Multiple moves and inconsistencies are amongst the top ten reasons service members choose to separate.

True- Qtrly “San Diego Military Homeschool Network” meetings, mentor program, joint work with our Marine Corps SL partners. We also offer info on military scholarships, and work with the VA on school presentations about education benefits.

Families with special needs students can only get assistance from the EFMP program. T/F

False EFMP and School Liaison work together to ensure all medical and educational information, resources and support are provided.

The Military Interstate Compact is a moving company for household goods. T/F

False- Works to level the playing field for military children moving between states by addressing most common concerns. Ex. Placement, Credit transfer, etc.
