The Building Blocks (BB) initiative addresses NIF™-CompliantOff-The-Shelf products, including:–Self-Verification Criteria for candidatere-usable off-the-shelf products–BB Catalog on a public web-site, providing a database of certified BB entries available for inquiry by member and public entities

The NCOIC’s main purpose is to help accelerate the implementation of NCO/NEC capability

– One method: provide systems engineers with knowledge of existing products that may serve as candidate components for specific solutions

Self-Verification & Submission

Candidate Building Block submissions include both Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and Government Off the Shelf (GOTS) components / systems– Submissions may be offered by NCOIC member

companies, government agencies, and non-members

– Candidate submissions are accepted if “Building Code” NIF™v2 Pattern definitions exist at time of submission or are planned to be developed by NCOIC at a future date

NCOIC Certification

NCOIC’s Building Blocks certification program– NCOIC NIF™v2 compliant “Building Code” Patterns will

include Product Verification Test Requirements

– Candidate product verification testing performed by companies / entities who submit candidate products for Certification

– Subsequent to the completion of the product verification testing, the test results will be evaluated

– If successful, a license to use the NCOIC logo for a “NCOIC Certified Interoperable Building Block”, will be granted

– Third party administrative support for the NCOIC’s Certification Program will be provided by The Open Group
