• Modem Port = Nokia GSM Phone Modem Port (e.g.Com101)

• Dial up connection = N95 com 102

• Press “Ok”• Note: when testing PS data,

dial up connection is selected in “packet switched dialup connection”; when testing CS data, dial up connection is selected in “circuit switched dialup connection”.

Page 38: Nemo Outdoor Training

Adding Hardware Devices...• Antenna Gain and Cable Loss are antenna-

related parameters and they are used in the conversion of files into Nemo Outdoor, Nemo Analyze, and NPS/X file format.

• This is only a factor if you are also using external antennas.

• If you are using the internal antenna of each phone OR you are not willing to make conversions, leave these values to 0.

• Values do not affect the results. Values are used only for conversion during postprocessing.

Page 39: Nemo Outdoor Training

Adding Hardware Devices in Nemo Outdoor

• Save the hardware configuration, e.g. N95.hwc

Page 40: Nemo Outdoor Training

Measurement Configuration

Page 41: Nemo Outdoor Training

• Nemo Outdoor supports manual and automated mode. • Manual mode is based on the user establishing a data transfer connection or

making voice calls.- This mode is useful, when user wants to make a single continuous data

transfer session or a voice call to monitor the resource allocation and cell reselection performance.

- This mode requires the user to control phones with Nemo Outdoor. The user should NOT use the mobile keyboard to establish voice calls or data calls.

• Automated mode is based on scripts that establish data transfer connections orvoice calls on behalf of the user and can repeat the same or different sessions for a defined period of time. Scripts can be saved and edited. Script files can be, quickly and easily built with the Script Editor.

Manual / Automated Mode

Page 42: Nemo Outdoor Training

Measurement Properties

• Measurement properties for Voice Calls, Data calls etc. Need to be defined before the actual measurement

Page 43: Nemo Outdoor Training

Manual Measurement Configuration

• Information on this tab should be filled in when doing Manual Measurement. (Press “Properties”)

• Voice Number defines the phone number to which voice calls will be made.

• Data Number defines the phone number for data calls, user name and password for service, etc.

• PDP Context Properties defines used APN for Packet data connection

• Data Protocol defines whether FTP or UDP is used for data transfer

• ICMP Ping Properties defines Ping settings, like Ping address and size of Ping data

• SMS/MMS includes all the required parameters, like SMS/MMS service center, number where to send, SMS/MMS edit tool, etc.

Page 44: Nemo Outdoor Training

Manual Measurement Control

• Measurement can be done from Mobile’s Control Panel or from Measurement menu by selecting the appropriate mobile

Page 45: Nemo Outdoor Training

Automatic Measurement• Measurements can be automatically repeated by predefined number of times• Voice calls, data calls, attach, PDP activation, FTP, Web browsing, SMS, MMS, launch of

external application, Ping sessions, etc. can be included in automatic measurement sequence

Voice Call Script Configuration

• Script Editor/ Add / Voice Call• Voice Call Properties

– Number defines the number to be called

– Call Duration determines the time that the call lasts in seconds

– Call Attempt Timeout value determines the maximum duration of the call attempt. After that, the call attempt is considered to be failed.

– Delay Between Call Attempts value determines the wait time between call attempts in seconds.

– Delay from End of Call to New Call value determines the wait time between the end of the old call and the beginning of the new call

Page 47: Nemo Outdoor Training

PS Script Configuration

• Access Point Name defines the APN used

• User Name/Password etc. Depend on operator’s settings

Application Testing

Page 48: Nemo Outdoor Training

PS Script Configuration

• Host Name: IP address of the FTP server used. • Username: username for the FTP server.• Password: password for the FTP server.• Passive Mode: Some firewalls may be configured to refuse any

incoming connection requests, and in that case the data transfer would fail. With passive mode, the client always opens those new connections so the firewall does not block the connection.

• Direction: Receive – downloading; Send – uploading • Remote File: File @ FTP Server • Note: If you have multiple simultaneous data

connections and the direction is set to send for all of them, you must define a different remote file for each connection. Otherwise the different data connections will try to write in the same file.

• Note: If there are several testing units using the same FTP server, we recommend that you use a unique file name extension (e.g., filename_tester1.txt, filename_tester2.txt, etc.) for each unit to avoid a situation where two testing units are trying to write in the same file.

• Local File: File @ Testing laptop • Note that if you have multiple simultaneous data

connections and the direction is set to receive for all of them, you must define a different local file for each connection. Otherwise the different data connections will try to write in the same file.

Page 49: Nemo Outdoor Training

• URL: IP address of the test file that will be downloaded. For example, 203.125.58.120/1000kb.htm

• Note that if you have multiple simultaneous data connections, you must define a different URL from different servers.

• Local File: File @ Testing laptop

• Note that if you have multiple simultaneous data connections and the direction is set to receive for all of them, you must define a different local file for each connection. Otherwise the different data connections will try to write in the same file.

Nemo Outdoor and MS BTS File

The BTS (Base Transceiver Station) file is used by the Nemo Outdoor Measurement software to overlay BTS sites on the raster map (.map) or MapInfo® map (.tab). When possible, the active BTS is indicated by drawing a line between the BTS antenna and the current position mark.

(Cell information, coordinates and antenna direction required). The line color differs according to the test mobiles. If the CI is known but the channel number is not available, the line is drawn to the base station icon, not to the antenna.

Page 86: Nemo Outdoor Training

Some Rules for Drive Testing

Page 100: Nemo Outdoor Training

Some Rules for Drive Testing

Check the condition of all antennas, cables, and connectors Check that connectors are properly connected. Loose connections cause unreliable measurement results or wrong attenuation figures, etc.

Place antennas correctly on the roof of the vehicle. If antennas are too close to each other, it may cause interference with other antennas.

Page 101: Nemo Outdoor Training

Some Rules for Drive Testing

Check configuration before starting the measurement

When removing antennas after drive test, DO NOT PULL (!) antennas from antenna cables!

Do not press mobile keypad buttons during measurement

Do not drive, measure, and monitor Nemo Outdoor User Interface at the same time. Prevent traffic accidents.

Page 102: Nemo Outdoor Training

Output Files
