seeking information under the RTI Act, 2005.
In this regard, this office had sought information from concerned section i.e. Legal cell (Import
I) and the reply has been received from their office. Accordingly, the reply of Import lI
Commissionerate, Mumbai Customs Zone I regarding the information sought by you is as under
1. Kindly provide the list of cases corresponding the names of Advocates, who were not on the
regular Panel of CBEC, but have been engaged and/or allotted cases for conducting and
defending cases on behalf of Customs department before the Principal Bench of Bombay High
Court between the period July 2016 to September 2017. NIL.
2. Kindly provide list of cases allotted to Senior and Junior Counsels, who were on the regular
Panel of CBEC, during the period July 2016 to September 2017 for conducting and defending
cases before the Principal Bench of Bombay High Court on behalf of the Customs department.
This information cannot be provided under See 8(1%d) &G) of RTI Act 2005, read as: "8.
Exemption from disclosure of information:- () Nowithstanding anything contained in this
Act, there shall be no obligation to give any citizen, - (d) information including commercial
confidence, trade secrets or intellectual property, the disclosure of which would harm the
competitive position of a third party, unless the competent authority is satisfied that larger
public interest warrants the disclosure of such information. j) information which relates to
personal information the disclosure of which has no relationship to any public activity or
interest, or which would cause unwarranted invasion of the privacy of the individual unless the Central Public Information Officer or the State Publie Information Officer or the appellate authority, as the case may be, is satisfied that the larger publie interest justifes the disclosure of such information: Provided that the information which cannot be denied
