IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Delay Days: EACS will utilize a 1, 2, or 3 hour delay schedule if necessary due to
weather related issues. If there is a 2 hour delay on a Wednesday collaboration day,
then there will be NO early dismissal that day. If there is a 3 hour delay, then stu-
dents will dismiss an hour later at 4:45 p.m. Please be sure to watch the news or
check our school website at www.eacs.k12.in.us.
Email Addresses : Parents—Please be sure that your child’s teacher has your most current email
address as we move to use more electronic means of communication with parents. This is a great
means of communicating between the classroom and home.
Parent Access: Please be sure you keep your username and password for parent access. You can
use this to look up your child’s lunch account balance and check grades and attendance. You can
also log in and update any phone number changes throughout the school year. Our school website is
www.eacs.k12.in.us. You can access RDS Parent Access by clicking on the button on the bottom
right hand side of the screen.
School Office Hours: The office is open daily from 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. If you need assistance,
please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.
Newsletters: Newsletters from both the classroom and the school will be emailed to the address
you have given us/updated online.

Sending children to school vs keeping them home
If you are like most parents, there may be times when you are not sure whether or not to send your child to school. Please use the following guide-lines to make your determination. Please consider the health of others and decide to keep your child home when needed. Any of the following con-ditions need to have subsided for at least 24 hours before student returns to school. (This is because you can still spread many germs even after you are feeling better.)
* Any temperature above 99.5°F in the morning before school
* Any vomiting and/or diarrhea
* Any mucous/nasal discharge that is ANY color other than clear
* Any cough with congestion or that is so bad it causes gagging or would be disruptive in a classroom setting
* Anytime you can tell just by looking that your child just does not feel well or if he/she is unusually fussy
* Any unidentified rash (if you know your child has a rash and you KNOW what it is, send a note to school with them to
avoid a phone call from the school nurse)
* A communicable disease (even if just suspected – DO NOT send them to school to have the nurse check to see – this
would just expose everyone else)
* Any bacterial or fungal infection (pink eye, impetigo, ringworm, etc.) until being treated for 24 hours
Again, the staff at NHIS wish to thank you for your unwavering compliance to the above as we all strive to ensure a healthy environment for all the children. Even though this may cause some inconvenience, we appreciate your concern for all the students in attendance at NHIS.

PARENTS...It is important to keep the school current on parent and emergency contact information. IF your phone number (home and/or work or emergency contact person) changes…notify the school. Having incorrect contact information wastes valuable time in an emergency…and emer-gencies DO happen at school.

If your child is going to be absent, please call the school prior to 9:20 a.m. to report the absence.
The telephone number is 446-0190. When you hear the recorded message, press “1”.
• If you will be changing the way your child gets home, please call into the school office by 12:00
noon on that day so a message can be given to the teacher and student in a timely matter. Please
Note: If you send a note in with your student a call will be made to you to verify the note.
**The easiest way for you to change your child’s transportation is by calling the school office**
We have quite a few items in our lost and found. If your student is missing anything, please have
them check the lost and found (located in the cafeteria) before December 19th. Items that are not
claimed will be donated before then will be donated to the Goodwill.
If your student is a breakfast eater, they need to be here prior to 8:55. Breakfast is not served after
this time, unless your student is on a late bus.
Shriner’s Tab Program
We ask that you please consider saving your pop tabs at
home. We collect them to donate to the Shriner’s
Hospitals for Children. So far this year, 8,387 pounds
have been recycled amounting to $4,981.88. Since the
project was started in 1990, 384,913 pounds have been
recycled amounting to $206,231.85 for the Shriner’s Hos-
pitals for children. These totals represent a part of our
contribution to this important cause.
