Message from the President December 2017
May you have gloves to warm your hands and boots to warm
your feet. And the love and laughter of your family and friends
to warm your heart. Charity M. Richey-Bentley
Greetings,
I am a slave to “must dos” and have a list of things that must be done in November.
I must change the furnace filters, reset the clocks and replace the batteries in the smoke
alarms. It is also a must to wash the windows and polish the silver, which I might not use,
but it must be done! Then, I get down to the fun things like arranging the snow village and
putting the lights on the house which must be turned on Thanksgiving evening. Now, I am
ready for December.
In December, sticking with tradition becomes my top priority. Any shopping must be
done by December 12th so that items may be shipped. This past year, I joined millions of
Americans using online ordering and free shipping. Like many of you, my gift recipients
prefer envelopes in place of packages so shopping as well as sending holiday cards will soon
become a lost tradition in my family. Our traditions that will never end include: listening to
holiday music while trimming the tree, making my Mother’s Christmas Coffee Cake, frosting
sugar cookies, and getting teary-eyed while remembering past holiday seasons.
As you enjoy the month of December, take advantage of the sounds and sights that are
the heart of the Triangle. Many of our communities have parades, lighting exhibits and
holiday performances that are too numerous to mention in this short note.
Wishing you love, laughter, friendship and winter cheer,
Anita Timbrook
