FORMAT OF E-REWARD WINTER SCHOOLThe Winter School will cover all 10 of the GRP courses. Each GRP module will be delivered in one compact classroom day combined with online self-study – drastically reducing the usual three or four days of your study and travel time.

The GRP Winter School is a blended learning approach combining a live-streamed classroom day, online study and a one-to-one coaching session.

You can attend each one-day classroom course, or simply pick a class of your choice.

1. PRE-RECORDED TRAINING VIDEOSDelegates will have prior online access to WorldatWork’s superb E-learning training videos for each GRP course, purchased by E-reward for this Winter School.

To get the most out of our GRP training, it’s essential that participants view the learning videos in advance of the virtual classroom day. For each GRP module, students should set aside about one day to familiarise themselves with the contents of the online video.

This opportunity to sit the full class online via E-learning training videos ensures you can prepare any questions you have for clarification/more detail for the instructor during the virtual one-day classroom. You can then email your questions and queries to the E-reward team a week before the class so your tutor can prepare some answers and bring them to life with some practical examples.

The E-learning package for WorldatWork covers the entire content of each GRP course, so we can use the virtual classroom day for revision, interactive exercises etc.

Students can access these videos for four weeks before their course starts. Access ends after 120 days.

This element of the school is a self-paced, online learning experience that allows students the flexibility to study at a time that suits them best.

You can access them as often as you like.

Delegates will also receive a PDF version of the WorldatWork course book.

2. ONE LIVE-STREAMED CLASSROOM DAY PER GRP MODULEEach course will then be reviewed in one compact classroom day that delegates attend via live streaming.

Delivered via ZOOM.

Starts at 9am with approx. 4.30pm finish (London, UK). 

The day is split into four sessions: 

• 9am to 10.15am

• Break

• 10.30am to 12 noon

• Break for lunch

• 1pm to 2.15pm

• Break

• 2.30pm to 4pm

During the full virtual classroom day, our experienced instructors will bring the content to life, answer queries, revise critical information, conduct practical exercises with the class, share real world examples, and discuss how best to apply the knowledge/content in delegates’ organisations.

Morning session – streamlined overview

• High-level run through of all the course materials, focusing on key learnings.

• Our tutors, all of whom are seasoned reward professionals, take you through the essential aspects of the GRP course.

Afternoon session – practical examples, group exercises and case studies

It’s not just a revision class, we will cover any case studies and group exercises that are essential to getting maximum benefit from the course. The live-streamed classroom course is very interactive – you can ask questions, interact with our tutor and other delegates, break out into small groups, do all the group exercises – it’s just like attending in person in a physical classroom.

3. PERSONAL, ONE-TO-ONE TUTORIAL, COACHING AND SUPPORT WITH YOUR TUTOR Duration: One hour by phone or Zoom.

• Our key aim is to support students through their study. To provide extra support, each course participant will be entitled to a private, one-to-one tutorial

session with their tutor, giving them the opportunity to ask questions about the course material once they have viewed it online and completed the virtual classroom day.

• This will provide strong individual support, so that they sit the exam well prepared. This is a unique benefit only offered by E-reward.

• Tutors will ensure that you are ready to take your exam with full confidence.

4. ONLINE EXAMS • Students schedule their online exam

(with instant results) at a time that suits them best.

• Exams must be taken within 120 days.

Dianne Auld, GRP, CCP, CSCP

Senior Consultant, Auld Compensation Consulting

Dianne is the founding member of Auld Compensation Consulting, operating out of Cape Town, South Africa. Her consulting work around the world covers all areas of total rewards, including reward strategy, base pay management, job evaluation, pay structuring, incentive design and sales compensation. She has developed and taught Excel and rewards courses in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and the United States.

As a WorldatWork faculty member, Dianne teaches the GRP reward qualification courses in Southern Africa. She is the author of Dianne Auld’s Excel Tips, 3rd edition. Dianne has developed and recorded several e-learning products for WorldatWork, including Excel Skills, Advanced Excel Skills and Pay Structures. She is an honorary life member of the South African Reward Association (SARA) and an accredited Master Reward Specialist.

Dr Duncan Brown

Independent adviser, Visiting Professor University of Greenwich and Principal Associate IES

Duncan has worked at major HR consultancies and research institutes including Aon and Willis Towers Watson. He was Deputy CEO at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development for five years.

Duncan’s recent clients have included Shell, Royal Holloway University, NHS Employers and Unicef UK. He has advised the UK government on a range of issues including pay determination for doctors and dentists and the judiciary; and the development of the gender pay gap reporting regulations in 2017.

He has just authored the CIPD’s new guide on ethnicity pay reporting and wrote their recent report on employment status. He is the joint author with Michael Armstrong of the UK’s best-selling Handbook of Reward Management.

Duncan has an MA from Cambridge University, an MBA from the London Business School, his PhD was in reward strategy and he is a Chartered Companion of the CIPD.

He is also Board trustee at the High Pay Centre, the Involvement and Participation Association and at the Pensions Policy Institute.

Pat Gurren, GRP, CCP

Founder of Gurren Compensation Ltd

In 2004, Pat founded Gurren Compensation, a specialist reward consulting practice based in Ireland. Prior to starting his own consulting business, he held a number of senior HR and reward management positions for leading multinational companies, including Intel, Motorola and Digital. During his ten-year career with Intel, Pat worked in Ireland, Asia, Europe and the USA holding positions as C&B Manager for Ireland, C&B Director for the Asia region, C&B Director for the Europe region and Global Head of C&B Operations.

Since founding Gurren Compensation, Pat has worked with numerous clients across all industry sectors/geographies on the design and implementation of reward strategies/programmes that effectively align with business priorities and organisational culture.

Pat is a certified Global Remuneration Professional (GRP), a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), and a Fellow of the CIPD (FCIPD). He has been a teaching faculty member at WorldatWork since 2008 and teaches all 10 classes on the GRP certification course.

In his consulting practice, he has a wide range of performance improvement and reward management interests and is viewed as an expert practitioner in the design of pragmatic reward strategies/programmes that improve organisational performance.

Why has E-reward launched the GRP Winter School?

Money and time! We all want to save it and this way of learning enables you to achieve your GRP reward qualification in a matter of just a couple of months, saving you numerous trips to London. If you just want to attend one or two of these classes, that’s ok too. You don’t need to sign up for all 10 classes.

Do I have to come to London to do these courses in person in 2021?

Given the uncertainty surrounding the current Covid situation, we’ve decided to stream the courses live from our UK office via zoom to enable participants to attend courses virtually. Each live stream features ongoing interaction with your tutor throughout the entire live-streamed classroom event.

Tell me more about the content of the courses. What’s covered?

GRP is the only global qualification available and is recognised by all of the world’s leading organisations as a mark of professional capability in this field. It’s the most broad and in-depth reward training you will find.

Certification exams are uniform, whether undertaken in Australia, China, Europe, Middle East, Russia, South Africa and South America.

How experienced is my classroom instructor?

We look for a combination of hands-on practical experience and an engaging manner in our GRP tutors. You’ll be listening to your tutor for a long time! We make sure they are engaging, interesting and a superb communicator.

Our Winter School courses will be led by three top tutors, each one highly regarded and in huge demand as consultants as well as for their tutoring, training and mentoring work. 

How much time do I need to take out of the office?

We don’t dawdle. We ensure the live-streamed, face-to-face learning element is completed in a single day. It’s just one day in your business diary per GRP module. It’s one intensive day focussing on nothing but your GRP study which has been proven time and time again to work for you.

For each GRP module, students should also set aside about one day to familiarise themselves with the contents of the online video. Plus one- hour for a private session with your tutor.

When will I gain access to the online learning videos?

Delegates will have prior online access to WorldatWork’s E-learning training videos for each GRP course, purchased by E-reward for this Winter School.

Review them carefully when it’s convenient to you. You can access them as often as you like and they will help ensure you pass first time and gain your accreditation.

Your access ends after 120 days.

How much study is required before the virtual classroom?

As well as the training videos, you will receive an electronic copy of the course book (PDF) so that you can print it out, read it ahead of the classroom day and then follow the live-streamed course, exactly as you would if you were live in the classroom. Each of the 10 GRP courses has an accompanying course handbook.

What time does the virtual classroom day start?

The virtual classroom day will start at 9am with a 4.30pm finish (London, UK).

Then take your exam right from the comfort and convenience of home or revise for a few more days and sit the exam the next week. The choice is yours. (Exams must be taken within 120 days of receiving the course materials.)

Are the E-reward classes taught in English?

Yes, our tutors are great English language communicators who have taught numerous GRP classes across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

How interactive is the live-streamed class? Can I ask questions?

The live-streamed classroom course is very interactive – you can interact with your tutor and other delegates, break out into small groups, do all the group exercises, just like attending in person in a physical classroom.

Our students find this particularly helpful when English isn’t their first language and they need a particular point clarified.

When will I take the exam?

We are pleased to offer the exam online. This method (via WorldatWork partner Examity) allows you to take your exam at the date, time and location that best fits your needs (You must sit the exam within 120 days of receiving the course materials). You can sit the exam from the comfort of your own home or office – anywhere that you have internet access and a laptop.

You will need to register (WorldatWork will let you know how) and then schedule a time to take the exam. There are always lots of slots free – either immediately or sometime in the future. You will receive your results immediately.

What happens if I fail the exam?

Very few of our students fail to achieve a passing score in their exams. You are very unlikely to fail with us. But should you do so, we will personally pay for you to retake your exam – absolutely free of charge. (Note: one free retake only.)

What streaming platform do you use?

We stream the courses live from our office via Zoom to enable participants to attend courses virtually from wherever they wish.

What is the cost (£ GBP) of achieving the GRP qualification in London?
