ICE BREAKER – FOOD & ME

1. Introduce yourself and come up with three statements about food in your life (e.g., “I am allergic to bananas.” “I always get my strawberries from Trader Joe’s.” and “My favorite food is spinach.” etc). Two of the statements are to be truths and one is to be something that did not take place, but just as well could have.

2. Each person gets a turn saying their three statements, everyone else have to guess which of the three statements is a falsehood.

WHAT IS BRUNCH?

Brunch is a combination of breakfast and lunch eaten usually during the late morning but it can extend to as late as 3 pm. Brunch originated in England in the late 19th century, served in a buffet-style manner, and became popular in the United States in the 1930s.

The meal usually involves standard breakfast foods such as eggs, sausages, bacon, ham, fruits, pastries, pancakes, and the like.

The dim sum brunch is popular in Chinese restaurants worldwide.

The yolk is runny (流淌的) , and egg white is completely cooked through. We refer to these as runny or “dipping” eggs, because the runny yolk is great for dipping toast into.

BREAD SPREAD (面包涂抹料)1) Jam/JellyThe difference between jelly and jam is that jelly is made strictly (纯粹地) from the juice of fruit while jam is made from crushed (压碎的) fruit.  Specifically, jelly is made by crushing fruit, then straining out (滤出)  everything but the juice.  The juice is then boiled, typically with sugar and pectin (果胶) added, the pectin reacts with the sugar and heat to give the jelly a thicker texture.
