Motto and Logo

• The Young Women motto is “Stand fortruth and righteousness”

• The logo is a golden torchsurrounded by the YoungWomen motto

• The torch represents the light of Christand invites all young women to hold upthe light of their example

Theme

We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us,and we love Him. We will “stand as witnesses of God at alltimes and in all things, and in all places” (Mosiah 18:9) as

we strive to live the Young Women values, which are:Faith • Divine Nature• Individual Worth • Knowledge •Choice and Accountability • Good Works • Integrity and

VirtueWe believe as we come to accept and act upon thesevalues, we will be prepared to strengthen home andfamily, make and keep sacred covenants, receive theordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of

exaltation.

Classes and Symbols

• Beehive—A beehive for harmony,cooperation and work

• Mia Maid—A rose for love, faith andpurity

• Laurel—A laurel wreath for !nishing asigni!cant achievement, a symbol ofhonor and accomplishment

Purpose

“The purpose of Young Women PersonalProgress is to help each young womanstrengthen her testimony of Jesus Christ,understand her identity as a daughter of God,prepare for her future roles, and prepare to beworthy to make and keep sacred templecovenants. Personal Progress is a tool to assistparents and leaders as they watch over andstrengthen each young woman.” (See p. 6, 86.)

Torch Pendant

“As you begin, you will receive a torchnecklace with the Young Women logoon it. Wearing the necklace signi!esyour commitment to hold up yourlight and stand for truth andrighteousness” (p. 7).

Participation

• Young women ages 12–18

• Their mothers

• Young Women leaders

• Other exemplary women who assist girlsworking on Personal Progress

Value Experiences and Projects

• Eight values, now including Virtue

• Three required plus three additional orelective value experiences per value

• Additional value experiences can bepersonalized and adapted

• Eight value projects of at least 10 hours,plus the Book of Mormon

Guidelines

• Complete the required value experiencesbefore working on additional ones

• You may write up to two of thepersonalized, elective experiences

• Complete the required value experiencesbefore starting your project

Pacing

• Work at your own pace

• But always be working on at least oneexperience or project

• Complete at least one experience permonth

• Complete one project every six monthsor two per year

Honor Bee

• After a young woman has earned herYoung Womanhood Recognition

• Read Book of Mormon again

• Serve others for a total of 40 hours

• Some service hours spent in mentoringother young women with her PersonalProgress

Adult Requirements

• Mother or woman who mentors a youngwoman completes same requirements

• Leaders:– Serve one year

– Required value experiences

– Three projects, including virtue
