Talbot County, on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, is proximate to the Annapolis/Baltimore/Washington, D.C. corridor. The County offers 600 miles of waterfront on the Chesapeake Bay, and five historic towns: Easton, Oxford, Queen Anne, St. Michaels and Trappe. Easton, the county seat, is the regional hub for commercial, financial, cultural and medical activity. The economy is defined by agriculture, manufacturing, professional and healthcare services, information technologies and environmental sciences. Real estate is the leading revenue generator, followed by business services and healthcare. Tourism also provides a significant economic contribution.

Talbot County offers a strategic location for small technology-based businesses with a nationally recognized general aviation airport, well maintained infrastructure and access to 90 federal labs and facilities. Economic assets include the Cooperative Oxford Laboratory which shares facilities with NOAA National

Center for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS), the U.S. Coast Guard and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources; the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island; and the Calhoon MEBA Engineering School. Recent projects include completion of a new headquarters for Quality Health Strategies and an expansion of Aphena Pharma Solutions. The Office of Economic Development is interested in assisting you and your business with retention, relocation and expansion projects.
