New Treasurer and new Councillors The RAS has welcomed a new Treasurer, Dudley Elliott and three inspiring Councillors –

Mary Nenke, Bruce Mullan and Bill Keane.

Each of these RAS representatives, with backgrounds of industry knowledge and

expertise within their professional fields, bring a wealth of skills to the Council table that

will help to endorse and lead the vision for the future of the Claremont Showground and

this not for profit organisation.

Mary Nenke, joint owner of Cambinata

Yabbies, located on the family’s board-acre

farming property near Kukerin, has collected

a number of awards over the years, including

the RAS Rural Community Achiever

award, through her tireless efforts to keep

agriculture in the forefront of industry,

politics, tourism, and diversification. Mary

has successfully linked the country to the

city to champion farming. This initiative led

to the annual ‘Farmer on the Plate’ event

held in Forrest Place. She is a committee

member of numerous organisations and sits

on a number of boards.

Bruce Mullan holds a PdD from the University of Western Australia and is a Director of

Livestock Industries Innovation within the Department of Agriculture and Food of WA.

Responsible for all research and development activities associated with the sheep, beef,

dairy and pork industries, Bruce heads the Pork Innovation Group, holds the Moir Medal

for service to West Australian agricultural research and held a number of board positions.

Bill Keane is a Barrister for a leading Perth law organisation practicing primarily in

commercial and regulatory litigation, with a focus on competition law, consumer law,

intellectual property and complex contractual and corporate disputes. Bill coordinates

and lectures in Competition Law at UWA Law School. With industry knowledge and

experience within grain supply chains, rail and port access as well as food industries, Bill

has advised and represented a range of leading companies and government agencies.

Treasurer - Dudley Elliott has more than 30 years commercial, banking and taxation

experience specialising in not for profit organisations, international businesses and

a range of industries from retail, property, agricultural, manufacturing and resources.

Dudley, who has his own advisory practice, is fluent in Japanese and has also provided

many services to large Japanese companies. He is currently a board member and

treasurer for the Spine and Limb Foundation Inc.

EntertainmentLet’s go LEGO®Budding builders will revel in the creative,

hands-on fun of the Show’s LEGO® Brick

Zone. From free play and building at

custom-made Lego play tables, kids of

all ages will find plenty of activities to

keep them entertained. There will be daily

Speed Play competitions and great prizes

including Ninjago accessory packs, Chima

3D stickers and Chima character wheels

and LEGO® mascot Max.

Foamy funMischievous Mr Bubble Man is followed

by a cloud of cascading bubbles… and a

crowd of ecstatic children! Up to 15,000

shimmering suds are propelled into the

air every minute via his amazing bubble

factory on wheels.

Titan the RobotThis mechanical marvel wows the crowd

with his cheeky mix of comedy and

street theatre.

The 2.4m metal wonder, dubbed the

largest entertainer on the planet, is back

to strike awe and wonder in his audience.

Never one to be shy, Titan has kicked

soccer balls with fans in Moscow, appeared

with superstars including Rhianna, will.i.am

and JLS, made his presence

known at the Abu

Dhabi FI Grand Prix

and is an all-round

electrifying entertainer!

Pigs might fly!Show rules may not permit any money

exchanging hands, but we bet that

everyone will be all a-flutter as this

spectator sport involving racing and diving

pigs. The crowd will want to stay for the

finale, when two of the porky contestants

climb 2.5 metres and dive into a pool!

What a pairLittle people will love the Bananas In

Pyjamas show, featuring Australia’s

favourite twins. The lovable pair with their

catchphrase, “Are you thinking what I’m

thinking B1?” And the inevitable reply,

“I think I am B2”, will get the crowd going

with their much-loved hit songs and dance

steps. These cheery bananas are a-peeling,

to say the least…

Arena actionWhen it comes to testosterone-fuelled,

adrenalin-pumping performances we have

no doubt your heart rate will accelerate

with the Horsepower display, galloping

twice daily around the Main Arena.

WA’s highly skilled and experienced

FMX and BMX teams and our Eastern

States’ cousins Elijay Freestyle will also

be ramping up the excitement with their

motorcycle and bicycle stunts that

signify danger, suspense and gravity

defying thrills.

IGA - Supporting the CommunityIGA is once again proud to be the naming rights sponsor of the Perth Royal Show. This is the seventh year that IGA has been a strong supporter of Western Australia’s major community event. There are now more than 260 locally owned and operated IGA supermarkets in WA with over one third located in regional areas and so it’s important that we continue our involvement.

The Royal Agricultural Society of WA has

given IGA the Community Partner level of

sponsorship because of its high level of

involvement with the community and its real

partnership with the RAS and

the Show.

This year we will again be selling discounted

tickets in all IGA stores.

At the Show, the IGA Fresh from WA Pavilion

will showcase products from local suppliers

and food producers. The IGA Follow the

Yellow Brick Road show bag will lead

Showgoers on an educational trail around

the Show. Not to mention the IGA Fireworks

Spectacular which keeps everyone

entertained at the end of the day. In addition,

this year we will again be sponsoring the

Kids Cooking Classes in the Farm 2 Food

Pavilion, a fairly new initiative at the Show.

Every year IGA donates more than

$1,000,000 to their local community

organisations through its Community Chest

Fund and other local sponsorships, including

Princess Margaret Hospital, St. Vincent

de Paul Society, WA Breast Cancer Care,

Royal Flying Doctor Service, IGA Carols by

Candlelight, IGA Taste Great Southern in the

South West and Perth Zoo.

From everyone at IGA, we look forward to

this year’s Show being bigger and better

than ever!

Looking to chill out? Enjoy a meal?Members have access to two fantastic dining areas to enjoy a leisurely meal or a relaxing

cuppa. Choose from the Members Lounge upstairs in the grandstand which has great

views over the arena to watch the entertainment and fireworks or the revamped Amelia

Park Steak House and Ranch in the Wattle Room, also with views of the arena. Both are

proudly catered by Ultimo Catering and Events who source their products from local

WA producers.
