What if I need to check in my child late?

It is important that players check in on the first day of camp. A required camp orientation is

conducted on the first day shortly after check-in. If you are not able to arrive on the first day of

camp for check in, please call our office at: 1.888.370.7287

What do I do if I need to pick up my child early?

We expect all players to attend all sessions through the last day of camp. This provides the

highest quality experience for every player on camp and in the training group. We understand

there may be unavoidable circumstances and it would be necessary to check out your child

before the last day. If a player needs to be picked up early please notify the Camp Director at

check in and provide a note stating such. If it is an unscheduled pick up you can always call

888.370.7287. However, a specific contact list with contact numbers directly to personnel on

site will be provided to the parent or guardian checking in the player on the first day of camp.

What if I need someone other than myself to pick my child up at check-out?

Please provide a signed note with the full name of the person you authorize to pick up your

child at check-in. If the change occurs during the camp week please contact the personnel listed

on the camp specific FAQ and notify them of the change. Those individuals picking up the player

will need to bring identification. Please be aware that our staff will not allow any child to be

picked up by someone that the child does not recognize. If there is someone or people NOT

permitted to pick your child up, please contact our office at 1.888.370.7287 to request the

required form to complete. This form must be given to the Camp Director at check in.

How are players grouped at Residential Camp?

Players are grouped based on both age and ability levels. Group allocation is reviewed at the

end of each camp day and players may be moved accordingly to ensure they are in the correct

development environment and constantly being challenged.

What is a typically daily schedule for my child while on camp?

A typical schedule at most residential camps will be as follows:

Time Theme Activity

7:00am - 8:30am Nutrition Breakfast

8:30am Administrative Day Camper Arrival

How do I choose a roommate?

respond to your confirmation email requesting a roommate. Instructions for this are in the

body of the email. We understand the importance of getting the rooming allocation right, and

Page 12: New York Red Bulls Residential Camp Welcome Pack to the New York Red Bulls Residential Camp, ... Red Bull Arena, 600 Cape May Street, ... 10:30pm Recovery/Social Non-Soccer Activity/Rest

12

we appreciate your patience and cooperation on the opening day while we do our best to

accommodate everyone’s needs.

Are players supervised at all times?

Absolutely. On and off the field camper health and safety is our number one priority. We follow

a strict safety policy that ensures that there are always an adequate number of camper

supervisors at all times. We also ensure that each camper is always checked in and signed out

of camp by an approved adult.

What are the supervision arrangements at the dorm?

Red Bull coaches are housed on each floor of each dorm. The players will be shown where the coach’s rooms are located and they will be clearly marked so that they can be easily located by any player needing them. Boys and girls are in separate dorms, with male coaches in the boys’ dorms and female coaches in the girls’ dorms. In addition to our staff, each location has their own campus security which is available 24 hours a day.

What will happen in cases of injury or illness?

At all of our Residential Camps, the Camp Director holds an American Red Cross certificate in responding to emergencies and CPR for the professional rescuer. There will also be a qualified athletic trainer or EMT present during the week to provide on field treatment. However, the usual course of action once any serious injury is stabilized, is to contact the parents and, if necessary, the local emergency services. In the registration process we also ask important medical related questions so that we are always aware of any pre-existing injury or illness.

Do I need to bring my child’s immunization records to Residential Camp?

Yes. For all 5 day or longer camp programs, State Health and Safety regulations require that

your child is up to date with age appropriate vaccinations as listed below. Campers who aren’t

vaccinated won’t be permitted on camp unless there is a bona fide medical or religious

exception.

Vacations requirements to attend Camp:

Diphtheria/Tetanus

Haemophilus Influenza type B

Hepatitis B

Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)

13

Poliomyelitis

Varicella (chicken pox)

Following online registration, you will be directed to complete an online immunization record

or attestation for religious or medical waivers. If you are attending multiple camp weeks only

one completed form is required for the camp season.

For more information on state vaccination requirements visit:

NJ Vaccination Guide

NY Vaccination Guide

What if my child needs to bring medication to an overnight camp?

If your child will be taking medication while at an overnight camp, the prescribing physician must provide sign off on all medications, including over-the-counter medications. Campers are NOT ALLOWED to hold onto medication while at camp. ALL medications must be submitted to the Health Director of the camp for proper storage and administration. If your child is found in possession of medication, either prescription or over-the-counter medication, parents will be called for immediate pick up from camp. At camp check-in, ALL prescription and over-the-counter medications along with a completed MEDICATION form must be submitted to the Health Director (A medication form will be e-mailed to you following registration). Prescription medications must be in their original containers bearing the pharmacy label and have specific instructions for use (Child’s name, dosage, # pills inside, prescribing practitioner, pharmacy name & address, filler's initials, serial #). A self-administration process is used on overnight camps. Self-administration of medications will only be allowed for those individuals determined to be "self-directed". Determination as to whether or not a camper should be considered for self-administration will be conducted by the Health Director or designee and will be based on the camper's ability to correctly identify the medication, dosage and reason for need. Additionally, we do not keep supplies of over the counter medication at camp.

Does each Residential Camp location cater for special dietary needs?

The menu flexibility varies at each location. Our goal at every facility is to offer a healthy and

varied food option, there are times however when we the host facility can’t accommodate all

special dietary needs. To view each facilities ability to accommodate special dietary needs,

please read the location specific information pack, a link can be found at the bottom of this

page. If the dietary need isn’t address, prior to registering for any residential camp location,

please contact our office to see if the dietary request can be accommodated. Call: 1-888-370-

14

7287 or e-mail [email protected]. Additionally and where available, weekly menus

for each location will be included in the pre camp information pack.

What happens if there is inclement weather?

As with all of our camps if it is just rain, we play! However, if the weather presents a safety

concern on the field, there are opportunities for indoor activities. The common areas will be set

up for usage during potential rain delays with cards, quizzes and games and other activities.

Facility amenities vary dependent on location. As available, a gym space may be used to

continue training sessions. Indoor shoes or sneakers are required at for most gym floors.

Please pack accordingly. Additional facility information can be found on the facility specific FAQ

page here. The health and safety of our players remains our number one concern.

What happens if there is extreme heat?

The Camp Director is responsible for monitoring the weather forecast daily. If the heat index

rises to extreme or dangerous levels the camp day will be adjusted accordingly. There are a

number of possible activities that the players will have the opportunity to partake in at our

Residential Camps that will allow them to safely avoid the heat yet still be engaged. As stated

previously, the health and safety of our players remains our number one concern.

How can my child contact me / I contact my child throughout the week?

If your child has a cell phone they may use it only in their rooms. We do not allow players to

carry their phones around campus with them. You will also have the cell phone number of

Training Program Manager, and an on-site supervisor, who you can contact in an emergency.

Are the parents allowed to come and watch during the week?

The only time parents may attend to watch sessions, is the morning training session, from 9:00am - 11:30am. No visits are allowed outside these hours. We no longer allow parents to attend the evening sessions, as if we have a young player who is homesick, seeing their parents in the evening (closer to bed-time) exacerbates the problem further. The more you allow your child to immerse themselves in the soccer environment, the more they will enjoy the experience. Although we encourage our players to call home periodically, calling them several times a day is entirely counter-productive. Quite often, a text message is better. Please bear this in mind when communicating with your child. For child protection reasons, when visiting, parents are not allowed to enter the dormitories. If you are bringing extra clothing / equipment for players, please meet them outside the dorms.

Page 15: New York Red Bulls Residential Camp Welcome Pack to the New York Red Bulls Residential Camp, ... Red Bull Arena, 600 Cape May Street, ... 10:30pm Recovery/Social Non-Soccer Activity/Rest

15

What non-soccer activities are available throughout the week?

Time is allocated each day for players to spend time socializing with other campers, and to

spend time engaged in other activities. Each camp has a common room, with a television and

video games. Team activities will be prepared throughout the week, featuring activities such as

quiz nights, Red Bulls viewing parties, and other team competitions.

Will swimming be offered at overnight camp locations?

Some overnight camp locations have access to a swimming pool, please review the facility specific information pack. Parental permission is required for all swimming activities, this will be asked during the online registration process. Additionally, all campers that are given parental permission for swimming will be required to take a swim test as administered by the facilities Aquatics Director or Progressive Swim Instructor. Following the swim test, campers will be classified as swimmers or non-swimmers, only swimmers will be allowed in the pool area.

What clothing should my child wear at a Residential Camp?

A complete recommended packing list is included in each facility welcome pack. in general,

players should be able to make one set of soccer clothing work per day. However, please have

your player prepared for up to one full change per day in case of inclement weather. In

addition, players should also pack casual clothes for rest and non-soccer activities.
