Seconded: Janine Financial Report – Copies distributed at meeting, there was a brief discussion on the sand issue for the Futurity, the consensus was that the cost of removing & storing the sand would possibly be more than bringing in new sand each year. Craig Laird congratulated councillors for the positive amounts in all the accounts and their efforts to keep them all in the black. Reason: Association funds are decreasing as membership decreases and cost of running shows and the association are always increasing, I propose the above, not to make a huge impact on income from memberships in one huge increase, but small increases over a number of years.

Remit 2: I Karen Matchitt propose that a “New first season competitor’s membership with a fee of
$70 be introduced, conditions = Points recorded, 1 vote, unable to stand for Council.
Reason: To encourage new members to have a go at Cutting for a season and hopefully get hooked, with a slightly
reduced membership fee outlay.

Constitution updating and amendments:
1. In the constitution the Restricted and Family membership is missing and therefore needs including.
2. The Life membership description in Constitution doesn’t match that on the current membership form, therefore a new Paid Life Membership category needs to be added to constitution.

b) Financial Life membership -
c) Restricted Membership - d) Family Membership -
e) New First Season competitor -
GENERAL BUSINESS. 1. South Island Aged Events Show (Futurity) – (Janine to explain their concept and answer questions).
CSCHC to post out a proposal form for members to return to gauge commitment or a preferable date.
2. Ruling clarification for NZCHA Judges – refer page 51 rule 4 paragraph 2.
a. Amend ruling to allow our judges to be restricted financial members, who have been NZCHA Members for a continuous period of 3 years prior to becoming a judge as long as they can comply with all other judges’ requirements to be included on NZCHA Judges list. Carried
3. Moving the time of the year for Nationals and or Futurity (as raised at NZCHA council Meeting Feb 2016).
a. Either moving Nationals or Futurity to within a week of each other, to allow horses that have travelled to the North Island the ability to stay and do both shows.
b. Or moving the Futurity show to Oct/Nov, allowing trainers the winter to finish off their training programmes and giving Sth Island trainers a descent gap between trips North?
- After much discussion the consensus was to continue as current, with most appreciating approximately a month between the Nats and the Futurity.
4. Graeme McInnes has been approached by the Wilson sister to see if the NZCHA was interested in a showcase of Cutting horses at the Equidays Saturday night show.
a) Graeme to meet with them on behalf of the NZCHA and see what they had in mind & get a proposal from them, what sort of reimbursement/financial contribution would be on offer. It was felt it would need to be more than $1500 to be considered.
b) The idea of swapping horses with Show Jumpers was not regarded as a good idea. 5. Steve mentioned that we need to keep pushing the Cattle Scheme, a suggestion from the floor was that the
association purchase different colour ear tags for Association cattle, so graziers can easily identify Association cattle (alive or dead).
6. Colin mentioned a Stallion Service Auction, however several stallion owners had had bad experiences with this in the past.
7. John felt we didn’t give our sponsors enough milage, this will be addressed going forward. 8. Steve/Harold & Grant were nominated to approach the set up committee for the new equestrian facility in
Taupo to start up a relationship that may allow the NZCHA to host cutting shows at the facility. 9. Helen thanked the out going councillors for their time and effort whilst on Council and thanked on going
councillors for their continued support and imput, she also thanked Jack Valoise and the TePa Station trust for allowing the NZCHA to be at TePa Station. She also thanked Janine/Geoff and Tamsin for making the trip north.
With no further business the Meeting was closed at 9:15 pm.
