NEWS FROM OUR SENIOR PASTOR

Hello Liberty Family,

Blessings! Due to the Christmas season, you should receive this newsletter a little early. December is a fabulous month of ministry and worship at Liberty. God’s gift of Jesus is the core of our faith. Thanks for being a part of it!

Another year awaits us! It is hard to believe that 2018 is upon us. God has been preparing us for a great year. Many of you have heard me introduce our Touching Lives Ministry. Liberty has been conducting this ministry overseas in international mission work. Many lives have been touched through it and God has led me to implement this ministry here. The concept is simple. Jesus touched the lives of individual people. We should follow His example. What would God do if all our ministry teams and our church members sought to touch a life this year? That is exactly what God is leading us to do.

We have over 55 ministry teams in our church. This includes small group Bible study groups. I am challenging each ministry team to choose one week to touch the life of someone outside our church. We touch people when we go to them and offer a practical ministry. Maybe it’s a gift basket or a gift card. Each touch is to include prayer and witness. Sandra Smith has agreed to be our coordinator. She will enlist each ministry team to pick a week to touch a life.

Additionally, Liberty has around 600 resident members. What would God do if each one of us touched a life this year? Many of us can touch more than one life! However, God will do great things as we follow Christ’s example and touch a life! Will you?

My heart is filled with excitement and anticipation of an amazing year at Liberty. Get involved! Commit to make 2018 the year that you draw close to God, you faithfully study His Word, and you touch a life.

Happy New Year! It is my joy to serve as your senior pastor.

Student Ministry

Dear Parents and Students:

Thank you for a wonderful 2017, I am trusting that God will have even greater things for our students in 2018. We are currently planning on a mystery trip with our students on Saturday, January 20, that should be different and a lot of fun. Then on Sunday night, January 28, we are going to be meeting at 5:00 PM in the Student Room to watch “I am Not Ashamed”. This movie will change your student’s life. Other big news involves our Wednesday nights. We are renaming our Wednesday nights “314 Explosion”. We are going to be opening the student area at 5:15 PM for the middle school and high school students to be able to get together and spend time. There can be opportunities for tutoring and also just a time for fun before our 6:30 PM Bible study time. We are so excited at what God is going to do with this time. Thank you for your continued prayers and support and let’s make 2018 incredible.

--Max Mathis, Minister of Students

Children’s Ministry

Happy New Year! What a wonderful year it has been getting to know the sweet children of Liberty. January is a special month to me as I came to know Christ at the young age of seven, on January 12, 1970. Almost 50 years ago, I came to know Christ as my personal Savior and Lord. As we begin this New Year, it is my desire to see your children grow in Christ in the coming year. We want to see our Children’s Ministry grow not just numerically but also spiritually. In Matthew 19:14 “Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them from coming to me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

As January begins a New Year, I would like to introduce a new name for our Children’s Ministry. Beginning this month, we will become the Liberty KIDS! We are excited about the new things happening in the weeks ahead. Also, if you are interested in working in the Children’s Ministry, please see me. We are always looking for people with a deep love for children. May God bless you and keep you in the New Year!
