Year 6 Graduation
Wednesday was the 2015 Year 6 Graduation
Luncheon. All of the students arrived at recess
time, excited and nervous at the same time waiting
for the luncheon to begin. It is always wonderful to
see so many children make the effort to dress in
their best attire to attend this special event with
even some of the boys dressed in suits!.
The Year 6 children enjoyed listening to the Minis-
ter Miss Gabrielle Williams, who talked about not
being afraid to give things a try because you are
scared. Resilience is very important, because usual-
ly the first time we do things, they don’t always go
to plan and we must continue to apply ourselves to
be the best we can be.
The Year 6 School
Leaders all present-
ed fabulous
speeches to the
room. They
thanked their vari-
ous teachers, out-
lined what a fantas-
tic year they had as
well as reminiscing about their time at Dandenong
North.
There was a singing group called ‘The Girls’ which
starred Harini, Wacha, Ny, Beatrice and Mariama
who performed the song ‘Live Louder’ by Na-
thaniel. Their performance was excellent and enter-
tained the room. Thank you to Mr Lodge for his
efforts in ensuring this group was ‘performance
ready!’
It was also particu-
larly special event
for some students
who received Aca-
demic Development
and Sports Awards.
To begin with Sheh-
an (6C) was award-
ed the Outstanding
Academic Achieve-
ment award- with
the Highest test scores
in English.
Kartik (6L) was
awarded the Outstand-
ing Academic achieve-
ment award - with the
Highest test scores in
Mathematics.
This year Mr Malone
presented two awards for outstanding sports
achievements and academic achievement. This
award is provided by School Sports Victoria and
is given out based not only on sports achieve-
ments but also on academic achievements
throughout the year. The two recipients were Ny
(6L) and Wacha (6L) - both worthy recipients as
they have shown their capabilities in both areas.
The Mackay Medallions are presented to those
students who have demonstrated two years aca-
demic progress in 12 months. It can also focus on
a child’s social and emotional development. The
recipients were Harini (6C), Hassan (6C), Alima-
tu (6M), Amina (6M), Raziyeh (6M), Inaya (6S),
Shireen (6L), Sitara (6L and Habiba (6L.
All of these students achievements were again
recognised at Thursday’s Certificate Ceremony
where family and friends were able to watch chil-
dren receive their Graduation Certificates.
Congratulations to all of our Year 6 students and
best of luck for your future!

We were provided with a wonderful Eyes, Ears,
Heart and Mind award a number of week’s ago,
that was presented to Will (6M). It highlighted
his generosity, kindness and overall care for eve-
ryone that he meets. This was after he had re-
ceived a Malone Medallion the previous week
for his positivity, persistence and continual sup-
port for his fellow peers.
After a chance encounter with a generous com-
munity benefactor, a one off scholarship was
created for Will due to the values he exhibits in
everyday life. Will was presented at Friday’s As-
sembly with an Eyes, Ears, Heart and Mind
Scholarship to assist with Secondary Schooling
costs. The funds associated with this scholarship
have been sent to Lyndale Secondary College
which he is attending in 2016.
This scholarship ensures that Will has every op-
portunity to participate in programs that will

Ray Jungwirth teaching at Dandenong North Pri-
mary when it first opened in 1954. For many
years Mr Ray Jungwirth and his wife Greta have
provided scholarships for Dandenong North stu-
dents who come from a non English speaking

This year there were two scholarships presented.

Malone Medallion
The final Malone Medallion was handed out by
Mr Malone at Monday’s Assembly. The final
recipient for the year was the 2015 School Cap-
tain Sitra (6C).
Sitra was awarded this Medallion for her attitude
and the constant effort she has put into Physical
Education over the years at Dandenong North.
She made the Cross Country team in 2014 for the
first time, finishing 10th in the District event.
This year unfortunately she didn’t finish due to a
health issue.
Sitra made the Athletics team also for the first
time this year finishing 5th in the 200 metres.
Sitra always displays great
sportsmanship and encourages
members from Dandenong
North and students from other
schools.
Sitra was selected in the Net-
ball team for Gala Day 1 and
the Girls Soccer team for Gala
Day’s 2 and 3.
Congratulations Sitra on the effort you display
and your improved sporting achievements which
have made you a deserving Malone Medallion
winner!
At Monday’s Assembly Leetesha and Lina pre-
sented an Eyes, Ears, Heart and Mind Award to
the whole school.
It was a fantastic gesture by Leetesha as she is
leaving Dandenong North at the end of the year
and wanted to say thank you to everyone as she
believes this has been the best school she has
ever attended.
Below is what the girls said at Monday’s Assem-
bly:
Eyes: D.N.P.S has 1700 eyes that shine with the
light and delight for 200 days a year.
Ears: D.N.P.S has ears that are bigger than an
elephants, though they listen better than ele-
phants!
Eyes, Ears, Heart & Mind Award
Heart: D.N.P.S has a heart
full of shining gold and love.
Everyone is kind. D.N.P.S
students love their class-
mates, teachers and they
care about D.N.P.S.
Mind: D.N.P.S’s mind is so
smart you can think straight
away, like Mr Mackay. Your mind is bubbling with
ideas, when you are in class and everywhere!!!
Thank you for letting me feel like this is my home.
Good luck for the rest of your lives at Dandenong
North Primary School. I will miss you. D.N.P.S it is
the best school I have ever been to.

Times Tables Champion All year Mrs Graf has been running a Times Ta-
bles Club each Thursday at 8:45 am for all inter-
ested students. It is imperative that children have
the opportunity to learn and revise their times ta-
bles knowledge as children need to be able to ap-
ply their times tables knowledge automatically
when solving problems involving the multiplica-
tion and division processes.
At Monday’s Assembly, Mrs Graf made a special
mention to Mr Chandler’s class 2CH for having
the most students attend each week.
The times table champion for
2015 was Sitra (5P).
It is a wonderful achievement
by Sitra to out perform her
fellow Dandenong North
peers to be crowned Times
Tables Champion!
We thank Mrs Graf for running this Club and we
encourage as many children as possible to attend in
2016!
