1. Video Making Competition – 70th Quit India Movement The Department of Computer Science and Engineering has organized Video Making Competition on the occasion of “70th Quit India Movement” on 29th August 2017.

From the entire department students participated in the competition. The competition was judged by Prof. Chitrashree K, Prof. Shreedhar Niradi and Prof. Kangana W.M. of Computer Science and Engineering department.

The competition was conducted successfully. Prof. B. S. Halkarnimath, faculties and students of SGBIT evidenced the competition. Prof Chitrashree K. and Prof. Jaya M. P. organized the event.

2. AISCES Inauguration Function. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering conducted AICSES Inauguration and Fresher’s Day Function 2017 on 08th September 2017. The aim of the function was to begin the association activities of the department for the academic year 2017-18 and to welcome the 3rd semester students to the department. The Chief Guest of the function was Mr. Anand Kulkarni, Consultant Mistubishi Aircraft Corp. Japan.

Mr. Anand Kulkarni in his address mentioned few points to the path of success. Everyone have to update the knowledge according to changing technological aspects and we have to follow the mantra of “Learn, Unlearn and Relearn” he mentioned in his speech. Dr. K. S. Prabhushetty, HOD, Dept of ECE, SGBIT guest of honor gave inspirational speech to the students. Dr. G. R. Udupi., HOD, CSE gave advice to the students to use the facilities available in the department as well as in the campus and presented welcome speech to the students. The function was organized by Association Coordinators Prof. Chitrashree Kurtkoti and Prof. Jaya P. and the faculty of Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

3. Technical Seminar on Current Trends in Embedded Systems and IOT

Department of computer science and engineering organized a seminar on “Current Trends in Embedded Systems and IOT” on 9th September 2017, for the students of 8th and 6th semester CSE.

The seminar was conducted by resource person Mr. Waseem K. from the company Emertxe, M.G. Road, Bengaluru.

The seminar included the points like IOT and its importance, Embedded Systems and its applications, IOT layers and Carrier opportunities in IOT.

The seminar was conducted in the presence of Dr. G.R. Udupi HOD, CSE. and coordinated by Prof. Chitrashree Kurtkoti and Prof. Jaya P.

4. Seminar on Library Information. The department of CSE Conducted seminar on how to use K-Nimbus search for referring a technical article, e-book and journal papers on 10th October the resource person of the seminar is Mrs. Nalini Ambli Librarian, SGBIT, Belagavi.The students of 3rd , 5th and 7th semester along with faculty were present. The principal SGBIT witnessed the seminar.

5. Workshop on Open Source Automation Software The department of CSE Conducted Hands on workshop on open source automation- how to use open source software for creating documents, Work sheets, presentation and drawing on 26th ,27th of October 2017. The faculty of department of CSE was the resource persons for the workshop and the workshop was conducted for the faculty members of other departments of SGBIT. The principal, SGBIT was participated in the workshop.

6. Parents Meeting 2017-18

The department of CSE conducted Parents Meeting on 29th of October 2017. The parents were addressed by the Principal SGBIT, and Dr. G. R Udupi HOD, CSE. The vision and mission of college and department of CSE was explained by HOD, CSE to the parents. The motto behind the parents meet was to discuss the problems of students with their parents for betterment of the students.

7. Workshop on Firewall Network Security

The department of CSE conducted workshop on Firewall Network Security on 3rd of November 2017. The resource person was Mr. Santosh Patil explained about cyber security, importance of Firewall in using internet for 5th and 7th semester students. Principal SGBIT, and Dr. G. R Udupi HOD, CSE and CSE faculty were also present.

8. AISCES Valedictory Function.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering conducted AICSES Valedictory and Farewell Function -2018 on 05th May 2018. The aim of the function was, closing the association activities of the department for the academic year 2017-18 and to give farewell to the 8th semester students of the department. The Chief Guest of the function was Mrs. Shilpa Shivashankar, CEO Kridv Solutions, Belagavi.

The function was organized by Association Coordinators Prof. Chitrashree Kurtkoti and Prof. Jaya Pattanashetti. The faculty and students of Department of Computer Science and Engineering witnessed the function.

Faculty Achievements:

Ø The faculty of CSE attended National level workshop “Effective Teaching Pedagogy for Technical College Teachers” on 3rd to 5th August 2017 at SGBIT, Belagavi.

Ø Prof. Jaya Pattanshetti attended three days workshop on “Phython programming” from 21st to 23rd August 2017 organized by VTU, Belagavi.

Ø Prof. Jaya Pattanshetti attended one day national workshop on “Research Methodology “on 11th November 2017 organized by GIT, Belagavi.

Ø Prof. Shaheen Mujawar attended one day technical Seminar on “Arm Microcontroller Cortex M3“ on 11th November 2017 organized by SGBIT, Belagavi.

Ø Prof. B.S.Halkarnimath and Prof. Jaya Pattanshetti attended “Rotary Lokmanya Sci-Fair 2017” as panel judges for an event "Video Clip Competition" and “Seminar Presentation” on 09th and 10th November 2017 at MVM, English Medium High School Belagavi.

Ø Prof. Veena Mindolli and Prof Rekha B attended 2 days workshop on “Computer Network Programming Using NS2/NS3 and Java” on 4th and 5th September 2017 at KLEIT, Belagavi.

Ø One day workshop on ns2 using TCL script was conducted by Prof. Kangana W M and Prof. Prof. Sahana B. and Prof Rekha was the resource person.

Ø The techno cultural fest Samveekshana 2k18 was hosted by the department of computer science & Engg which was a grand successful.

Ø All faculty members of CSE were involved in various committees for conduction was national conference on skill development & entrepreneurship conducted on 27th and 28th of April 2018

Ø Expert lecture was arranged by both computer science & engineering and E&C department, the lecture was delivered by Mr. Arvind Sharma and Mr.Rramesh B.K, Bangalore on IOT and artificial machine learning .

Student Achievements:

Ø Ms. Tehseen AGS from 7th sem CSE got selected in “Global Technologics” Bangaluru.

Ø Ms. Shushma L. S. and Mr. Shubham presented paper at KLE chikkodi.

Ø Ms. Meghana and Ms.Varsha rotti of 3rd Sem CSE participated and got first place in Video Making Competition – 70th Quit India Movement on 29th August 2017 at SGBIT, Belagavi.

Ø Ms. Shreerakha Bhat of 7th Sem CSE and Mr. Shbham 6th Sem CSE participated and got second place in Video Making Competition – 70th Quit India Movement on 29th August 2017 at SGBIT, Belagavi.

Ø Ms. Srishti Katte and Ms.Ummeaiman of 3rd Sem CSE participated and got third place in Video Making Competition – 70th Quit India Movement on 29th August 2017 at SGBIT, Belagavi.

Ø 15 students from 7th Sem CSE attended 3 days workshop on IOT from 6th to 9th October 2017 at SGBIT, Belagavi.

Ø 4 students from CSE got selected to “Yuvapravarthana Cell”.

Ø Ms. Mercy from 8th Sem, CSE got selected for HP Banglore ( for the positon of software associate ).

Ø Ms. Shriraksha Bhat 8th Sem, CSE got placed in HP Banglore, Bhilwara info technology limited and ABC group.

Ø Ms. Pooja Hirekodi 8th Sem, CSE got placed in hp Banglore , Bhilwara info technology limited and ABC group.
