8 pre final year MCA stu-
dents along with 2 ECE stu-
dents successfully completed
their 1 month internship
training from Tata Commu-
nications Ltd. (formerly
VSNL India) Kolkata. In-
ternship duration was from
5th January to 5th February.
Students have been given
training on Broadband Mobile
Communications basic, SDH,
optical fibre communication.
Students were fortunate to visit
their O & M (operations and
(P.T.O.)
8 MCA students returned after
completing winter internship from Tata
Communications Kolkata
Final year MCA student
Mr. Saikat Patra devel-
oped an autonomous ro-
bot named “Autobot” us-
ing Induino R3 board.
Autobot can detect any
obstacle in its 360 degree
movement path and find
its alternative way with-
out hitting the object.
Autobot can move in a
predefined programmed
path and it can detect an
obstacle from 400 cm
distance using ultrasonic
sensor which works above
18khz frequency range. It
can be used as unmanned
mobile carrier in indus-
trial application with
much cheaper rate than
conventional Unmanned
Areal Vehicle (UAV) .
Saikat is working under
the supervision of Prof.
Sanjay Goswamee and
his model is exhibited in
Birla Industrial and
Technological Museum.
The response from visi-
tors were very encourag-
ing. Saikat is now work-
ing on to reduce the bat-
tery power consumption
in driving DC motors.
Saikat is currently doing
his final year project in
Indian Institute of Re-
motesensing, Dehradun.

Narula Institute of Technology
organized Infosys Campus
Connect Foundation Program
FP3.1 for pre final year EIE,
EE, Civil, and MCA students.
Infosys Campus Connect
(IFCC) Program is an CSR
(Corporate Social Responsibil-
ity) initiative of Infosys Inc.;
started in our college since
2007. Each year Infosys train
two faculties (train the trainer)
so that they can train the stu-
dents for IFCC foundation pro-
gram. 60 students are selected
out of 300 applicants through a
pre selection test. Selected stu-
dents are trained (70 hours train-
ing) by our faculty members.
Infosys conduct examination
after the end of training and pro-
vide certificates. This certificate
certainly helps the students to be
more employable. Apart from
training they also organized pro-
gramming contest ASPIRA-
TION 2020 for the Infosys part-
ner institute students. Prof. Sa-
jal Saha of Computer Application department is the SPoC(Single
Point of Contact) and coordinator of the campus connect pro-
gram.Initially 60 students ware chosen (Civil 3rd year, Electrical
3rd year, MCA 2nd year) based on the scores of pre selection test.
Classes started from 10th February 2014 as per the schedule men-
tioned below. Classes held on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday each
week from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. During the training period two
online tests were taken (FP test1 and FP test2) through Moodle
server and results sent to Infosys.

A lecture on “E-learning through ICT: opportunities and scope for the AICTE approaved institutions” was organized on 24 January, 2014 in the SR Group of Institutions, Jhansi. Prof Sajal Saha, Assistant Pro-fessor, Department of Computer Application from Narula Insti-tute of Technology, Kolkata im-parted knowledge about e-learning and the initiatives made by the MHRD to encourage stu-
dents as well as the teachers. Prof Sajal Saha discussed the various initiatives taken by MHRD: NPTEL, V-Labs (Virtual Labs), Spoken Tutorial and Sakshat Mission, as a tool to enrich their knowledge through web-learning. Detail report avail-able at http://www.srgi.ac.in/
JIS group organised 2 weeks winter education camp at Asian Institute of Technology, Bang-kok,Thailand from 5th January to 17th January 2015. This is the 3rd education camp organized by JIS group. Students were chosen from all engineering branches of JIS group’s colleges based on their merit. 40 students were selected through rigorous selection process. Entire expen-diture(visa fees, travelling, ac-commodation, fooding) is sponsored by JIS group. Prof. Sajal Saha (Dept. of CA, Narula institute of Technology) and Prof. Ranjana Ray(Dept. of ECE, JIS College of Engineer-ing) accompanied the students as faculty mentor. Students vis-ited National Science and Tech-nological Development Agency (NSTDA), Bangkok University, GISTDA of Thailand. His Ex-
cellency Hars-Vardhan Shrin-gla, Indian Am-bassador in the Royal Kingdom of Thailand, His Excellency Dr. Suhas Banditkul, Former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, Prof. Worsak Kanok Nakul-chai, President of AIT met the students in a cul-tural program on 16th January and appreciated JIS Group students performance. He remarked “All of us at AIT have been impressed by your partici-pation and performance”. JIS
Group is going to Sign MOU with AIT on 19th March 2015.
Prof. Sajal Saha joined as faculty mentor of 29 JIS GROUP students
who visited AIT, Bangkok for 2 weeks winter education camp.
