** Room Usage **

Many groups use our building during the week. Despite our large building, there are

often evenings where our room usage is at capacity. There are nights this fall where

there is already no space available. Please contact Judy Graham well in advance of

your building needs at [email protected]. We request that even meetings of a

few people request a room. Priority for room usage goes to Gospel-centered ministries

of Shepherd of the Lakes that are listed in our Ministry Plan.

POSITIONS OPEN

Wiggle bags: sort and replenish supplies either weekly or twice

monthly. It’s a great job for a family, and can be done anytime during

the week that fits your schedule.

Toy washer: another great job for a family or small group. Sign up to

clean toys in the nursery once-a-month! It’s a great chance to catch up

while you wash away germs and dirt and keep our nurseries fresh and

clean!

Lending Library: a small committee is forming to lay the groundwork

for a lending library that will have Christian books, CDs and DVDs

available. The commitment is for twice-monthly meetings until the

task is completed (approximately 2-3 months)

Please contact Ann Colley in Children’s Ministry for more information

on any of these positions.

Parent/Youth please attend an informational meeting on Sunday,

September 18 at 12:30pm in Genesis Hall. We will be going over this

year’s calendar of events so that you can plan your time and

finances accordingly.

Pastor Vogel and your Youth Leaders are working hard to plan a year

of service, fellowship and faith building activities.

• Wednesday night youth group (1st/3rd weeks) will include working

on our A.C.T.S. Service Project and a Worship Service just for you!

Compassionate Care Project

When: Saturday, September 24

th

9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Sign-up located at the Outreach Booth in the Commons

What: Work together to assemble Personal Care Kits to be distributed

through Lutheran World Relief

Why: To give families throughout the world a helping hand, a sign of

comfort and hope for the future. When natural disaster strikes or politi-

cal conflict flares, families often have little chance to gather their be-

longings before fleeing the danger. They arrive in a refugee camp or

other place of safety scared, vulnerable and dirty from travel. The

simple items included in the Personal Care Kit allow them to wash

away the dirt and sweat, with the fresh scent of soap and the softness

of a towel as reminders of someone’s care and concern for them in

their plight.

Donations Needed:

• Bath towels

• Bath size bar soap

• Adult size toothbrushes

• Combs

• Metal nail clippers

All items should be new and in good condition. Donations may be

placed on the designated table in the Genesis Hall. The work of your

hearts and hands will be an immeasurable blessing to families in

need around the world!

THINK STEPHEN MINISTRY

You are the front lines of caring ministry in our

congregation. Throughout the week, as you

meet and greet those around you, think

Stephen Ministry. If you see people who are downcast or

struggling through difficult times, think Stephen Ministry.

Tell them about this compassionate care ministry where

they can receive the extra love and care they need to make

it through the challenge or crisis they are facing. Simply

refer them to Suzanne Biddix through the church office or

at [email protected].

Urgent Care & Repair Ministry

Current Needs:

There are several projects that we’ve been contacted about.

Please contact Suzanne Biddix for more information at

[email protected] or through the church office.

All material costs are covered.
