Creative Living Executive Director, Marilyn Frank, Announces Retirement at the end of 2018.

Over the last 42 years, Marilyn has been at the forefront of Creative Living’s growth and success. From her start as a volunteer, to serving as President of the Service Board, her role at Creative Living has evolved over the years, eventually leading to the last 17 years as Executive Director.Marilyn has successfully cultivated and maintained meaningful relation-ships with individuals and corporations in central Ohio and beyond. Her tireless energy has led to the growth of donor contributions through revenue at three annual events, estate gifts and countless other fundraising initiatives. As a true advocate for Creative Living Residents, Marilyn has defended disability issues in court, working with State and City officials to protect the rights of our Residents. Marilyn embodies the mission at Creative Living and has supported each and every past and present resident to live fully, productively and independently.Though it is impossible to sum up Marilyn’s impact on Creative Living, her legacy will be felt for years to come. Congratulations and best wishes to Marilyn and her entire family!

Resident Zac Zies has been busy! He has attended several job fairs and networking events in hopes of finding a great position after he graduates from The Fisher College of Business at OSU. Good Luck, Zac!

Fast friends and residents, Adam and Andrew spent time on (and in!) the water with Adam’s family over the summer. There is nothing these two won’t try! They have continued to inspire us as they both are working hard at therapy and encouraging each other in their various pursuits.

CONGRATS to Grant Williams, who has been offered a full-time position as a Management Analyst with the City of Columbus in their Public Utilities department!

Resident News, cont’d

Resident, Mike Stewart is a service technician at NuMotion and was recently able to test some amazing new technology! The TEK Robotic Mobilization Device brings upright mobility, greater accessibility, and an improved perspective to individuals with paraplegia and other walking disabilities. This device allows manual wheelchair users to independently and safely sit, stand and navigate indoor environments that were once inaccessible — all while standing at eye level!

Creative Living Resident, Debbie, released 8 beautiful monarchs into the wild and is in the process of raising another batch.

Debbie is an advocate for all living creatures (she loves animals!) and alsocontributes her time and energy to the community garden each year.

This amazing group of OSU students volunteered at Creative Living, help-ing us put together all of the moving pieces for our upcoming golf outing. Community Committment is an annual event that sends volunteers to serve organizations all over Central Ohio.

Pay It Forward 2018 - Community Commitment Day

Marly Saade has an amazing position with The Center for Disability Empowerment as a Youth Transition Coordinator. She was recently invited to attend the 2018 Candidate Forum on Disability Issues, traveling to D.C. as a representative from her organization. We can’t imagine a better fit for Marly! Congrats Marly, they are lucky to have you!

Sustaining Service Board

Service Board memberships have helped support a variety of emergency expenses for our residents over the years. From covering an expensive dental treatment or new pair of eyeglasses, your membership allows us to fill in the gaps that insurance may not cover. In addition, we have been able to help with van and wheelchair repairs, enabling our residents to fulfill their responsibilities to work and school, without interruption. We have installed several wireless thermostats, allowing our residents to take advantage of adaptive technology, leading to more freedom and independence.

Thanks to your Service Board Membership dues, we were able to give each Resident and a friend complimentary Ohio State Fair tickets! The tickets were requested by a large majority of residents who look forward to attending the fair each year.
