Effective March 1, 2009, patrons MUST have their library card for all transactions.

Due to a new processing system, we will no longer be able to look up patron accounts with photo IDs. Sorry for the

inconvenience, but there will be no exceptions.

Happy

St. Patricks Day!

Manager tidbits: The upgrade to our automation system is taking place this month, and we are anticipating a

smooth transition from Horizon to the new and improved Symphony. This is the computer system

that handles the circulation and cataloging of books and materials and provides the online

public access catalog. Symphony will offer improved user experience and catalog searching with enhanced content

offerings such as book covers, excerpts, book reviews, and author notes. New features will also

be available with Symphony through the Online Public Access Catalog, such as Recom-

mended Reading Lists, Recommended websites, and what your fellow library users are reading

or viewing. Patrons can even check out a new graphic way to “Find It Fast”. As the library staff learns more about this system and the new features that it offers, we will be

compiling helpful information sheets to hand out to everyone interested in the wide variety of

enhancements that Symphony will offer. In the meantime, please be patient as we work

through the bugs that inevitably show up during major changes. Katherine Spurgeon

Entertaining and quick on his feet,

Mark Twain’s Last Stand program was well attended and thoroughly enjoyed.

Taking on the personality of Mark Twain, our guest presented quips on today’s issues with the

humor of Twain’s clever wit. Mark Twain at
